Just did greatest loozzer workout cd. Cripes, it's difficult. And I was doing the "modified" workout. My heart rate went up to 85, so I had to just march in place a few times. It's a good "kick it up a notch" workout, as I'm getting bored (read acclimated) to leslie's workouts.
Re: ePlaya Fitness Club
On my little 10min forest walk to work (a tiny dirt trail with 3 sets of stairs), I can now make it up all the stairs without having to stop! I used to have to take a minute break half way up the longest one.

Today, I spent 1 hour jogging/walking the perimeter of a large park and golf course in our river valley. I surprised myself at how long I could keep jogging before taking a small power walk breather. The place was gorgeous, I was on a wide dirt horse trail, that was a mere 10 ft from the waters edge but still shrouded in forest all around. I was the only one on the trail nearly the entire time. I find my endurance increases when I run in nature; it's beauty and ever changing view distracts me I guess. Sidewalks and suburbia are much too boring.
Now my legs are sore, but it feels good.
I didn't take this photo, but this is the path I took.

Well now.... It's 43 pages later, and the guy who started this thread is still too fat. And only 60 days before leaving for this year's burn.
So I'm launching a 60 day all-out campaign. It's about will power; about keeping the mind on the task. Portion control. Exercise. Portion control. Exercise. Portion control. Exercise. I really need to do this.

I've gained back two pounds, but that's not bad for going off the eating plan and being inactive.
You can make progress Elliot! 60 days is better than no days.
Fishy, do you think lack of sleep is stress?

It seems that exercising in nature nurtures something more than mere muscles and lungs.
Re: ePlaya Fitness Club
I love nature UD, can't get enough of it.
I am currently mentally and financially preparing myself to buy a legit, nice road bike and bike commute to work/school. I am finding it harder and harder to get to the gym, because outside is so much nicer. A bike commute would work out to 30-45min twice a day, 18 km (11.2 miles) each way. I think 36km of biking a day should get me in shape quite quickly. I also figure it will come in handy when I move next year and will not have a vehicle in my new city.
So not very fitness-y, but last night I tried out bikes at 3 different bike shops, and I'm contemplating which price point I am comfortable with, and what kind of features I want.

Odd as it may sound, you might consider a true electric assisted.
A lot of people find they end up biking more often and further with the assist, resulting in more exercise, not less.
It might save your knees, long term too.
The better ones are light enough to use on bus transits too.
For cargo, check out the longtails too.
Eminently practical.

Crypto are you eating after or before working out? If after how long after? If you are working out late in the evening it will actually bring up your metabolism and cause you to still be in Active mode at bed time. Try working out in the morning.theCryptofishist wrote:Three days under my own power. Arms are sore, and for some reason, I can't sleep.

Re: ePlaya Fitness Club
I could adjust my meal times, I guess, but in a strict sense this is not a "workout" but a commute. The BART station is about 8 blocks from my home and about 5 from work. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I'm not covering that distance in my power chair, but under the power of my arms. I got home about 20 minutes ago, and I'm still dripping sweat. So it's out at 7:30 and back about six (I had dinner out tonight) and the insomnia whatever it was, wasn't that, I'm fairly certain. Had no trouble sleep last night...

Re: ePlaya Fitness Club
I see better now, in my situation when I workout or do exercise before evening meal my body spends the next few hours processing the food thinking it needs to be awake and ready to go again, does not sound that way in your situation. Could just have been a one off and not to be expected again, if it happens again try to piece together the steps that you did prior to the event and see if there was a significant change in your normal lifestyle. This may be the key...theCryptofishist wrote:I could adjust my meal times, I guess, but in a strict sense this is not a "workout" but a commute. Code purple air warning here.
Exercise and die.
Wait a few days and it will be over 100 again.
Same thing.

We've never had a code purple here before.
Orange is common.

I have to be in this stuff though.
Code red tomorrow.

The alert, which covers Shelby County, Crittenden County and Desoto County, indicates an extremely unhealthy air quality based on pollution emissions, stagnant atmosphere, clear skies and high temperatures.
Code Purple is the most severe warning that has ever been issued in the Mid-South.
Active children and adults, as well as those with respiratory difficulties such as asthma and emphysema, should avoid or limit outdoor activities.
For the first time ever, the department has issued a “Code Purple” advisory for ozone pollution, which can cause serious and lasting damage to lungs.
The advisory means pollution levels are high enough to very unhealthy for the general population.

Re: ePlaya Fitness Club
Hiked 2.5 miles through a state park today on a trail that was primarily sand, dust, and pine needles. Had a stroke of genius while out there, and decided my playa pedestrian training program will consist of a daily hike of a few miles along the sand of the beach after I get home from work. I figure dry sand is about as close an analog as I'm going to get to the predicted "soft playa surface of doom" and If I wear my bathing suit I can also work on a tan to help protect from sunburn on the playa.

To and from work, plus an extra after-dinner walk on which we saw two cats, and heard multiple barks. There was also something on someone's dashboard that was either a white platypus or a white bison...

I did my arm and leg strength routine, more stretching with light weights than anything heavy. Working back to my routines if I can't go to the pool. We were triple digits heat, but the basement is pleasantly cool all the time. Super-low humidity, which is why the statewide fireworks ban this year.
Platypus, bison, those are nearly the same, yeah? Not a possum?
Nice bike!
Playa surface of doom indeed. Any beach glass? That would be a bonus.
