i always suffer a rebound period. putting "next year..." up against "stop it already, you JUST finished."
this time it's been different.
i said to myself, "jared, what project can you do for the burn that you can do for los angeles as well? what do people need both here and there? what gift can you give not only to black rock, but to the community you spend your other 50 weeks a year in?"
i'm going to start building as soon as i bounce out of that annual post-burn red. i'm going to do it in sections and place my gift in my community for use throughout the year.
i guess i was just wondering what projects others have done with both burning man AND their "real" homes in mind as benefactors.

Its kinda heavy but you could pour some concrete slabs and let the kids in kidsville put their hand and foot prints in them and paint them up. Give it to a local park or school.
As a prank, get your city to adopt BRC as a "sister city".
Make any piece of art that your neighborhood would accept and display it first at BRC.
Try to collect as many burners from your city as you can. Take a big group pic back home in "street" clothes, blow it up and display it on the playa (LA says 'Hello, BRC!'). THEN, round up as many from LA as you can find at BRC, take a big group shot in their playa best and display both posters back home in a modern art museum.
Drive down wilshire blvd in a massive art car with flame throwers blasting in all directions.

wicked. =)
in my wildest dreams of having the time and energy to do it, i'd organize a fire festival in my beloved silver lake neighborhood. meet at the park with the bedpan fountain.
