Oh no, van's in the shop? Sorry to hear it. Ours needs to go in, general maintenance plus we're gonna have to replace the front windshield, it got a crack in the corner and those things tend to get worse.

Oh, the van has issues, but that's not what I was talking about. I drive it from a chair that is connected by a post that gets grabbed by the gizmo and locked in. My chair's down, so I can't drive.

Oh damn, that's the double-suck (well, triple-suck when you figure it shoulda been fixed by now),

We had a long, sweaty work day here. Save for a little more velcro we need to pick up next time we hit our fabric warehouse joint Pandorra got everything done for the deli awning. Plus she also finished reworking a design on a custom button project we've been tinkering with for a long time. It looks like it passed muster at the fab site that we're working with, and so she's ordered a sample or two. That should hopefully be here in the next week or so, if all goes well the plan is to use our custom-designed metal buttons on a few favorite pieces of playawear. Meanwhile, today I turned all the primed pieces into a deli counter. Well, most of a deli counter - I still have one more 'main' piece to put on tomorrow, and I have to put together a lower shelf insert. But hey, it's progress!

After a quick downhill test run, found it need some tweaking on the leverage of the control arms and stronger parts for holding the back wheels.

I finally got the main deli counter assembly done. Getting the luan around the corner proved to be a bigger pain in the ass than I expected, in my mind it was an easier job but it was a pretty tight corner (18" radius).



Still lots to do, but progress is progress. I also picked up the additional containers I need to be able to hold the powder coat materials I recently got (leaving them in the shipping bags is a disastrous mess waiting to happen), and picked up the steel I'll need for some arty things I want to make as playa gifts. While I was at the mill I also did a bit more research into the materials to use on the big bike project I'll be diving into after I finish the deli counter.

And then today we made a much needed supply run. Grabbed more paint to cover a few projects, and we got the chance to hit our favorite local fabric supplier. Found just the right material for many different projects (a few different pieces of clothing as well as a few art pieces we're working on), and at some pretty good prices….



Later, while I worked on the deli counter Pandorra worked on getting all the smaller camp sign pieces primed…

Nah, let 'er rip! I still have yet to assemble/paint a wooden insert, the bottom shelf will be on an angle and have dividers, and then we'll fill the case with plush meats & cheeses. Others in camp are working on the sewing bits, as well as a brain in a jar, take a number system, and other schtick and decor.

Coming along nicely. First rough testing showed the bits holding the wheels were too weak and the attachment points on the rear pivot arm (eye screws) bent, thus the new full forks for the rear wheels and the 3/16" flat bar rear steering attachment points. Also mounted the control rods higher for more leverage on the steering. I didn't need as much rear wheel travel as I was getting, so trading off some travel for power.

I finished with the painting of the deli counter, and re-arranged some stuff around in the loft so as to have a little breathing room (we had hoped to wrangle some storage space at our local tech shop place, but there hasn't been any room at the inn). I also assembled the insert and dividers for the bottom shelf, once I get that painted up it'll be ready to go.

Yeah, but no time with everything else going on. It's damn comfy. Least I'll get to play around on it for 2 weeks during setup before the GF arrives.

The counter will be filled with plush meats and cheeses, we'll also be serving up Murphy's Slaw (big bowl of screws/nuts/bolts/etc for when something unexpected breaks and you're caught without parts), deli pickles, and general silliness. We'll be on 8:30 at Esplanade, stop by iffen you get the chance or happen to be in the neighborhood. Here's another pic, with the not-yet-painted shelf insert sitting on the bottom shelf.

Progress continues, got a few more coats on the bottom of the insert and started working on the top.

Painting on the deli counter is done. I still need to wire it for UV lighting, but I should be able to get that knocked out this weekend.

Thanks Yggy & Elorrum - and hahah don't give away our plans for next year's camp, Figjam! The bottom shelf will get filled with plush deli meats and cheeses, and the second shelf will get a mix of stuffed cheeses, Murphy's Slaw (big 'ol bowl of nuts, bolts, and screws to share with people who have projects where something unforeseen went wrong and they need a part), and a bunch of rubber stamps. Up top we'll have a couple big jars (tethered down), one will have a brain floating in it, the other will have deli pickles. Somebody's working on a funky take-a-number system, and we'll have a specials board and some other stuff on the wall behind it (man am I glad other people are working on that stuff too).

Used translucent aerosol blackout spray on the tail lights. Didn't come out dark enough and is too glossy. Going to redo with Krylon ultra flat black.
