Re: Fuck!
*sits down, flabbergasted*
So, my parents flew back to India this weekend. We have never been a mushy family.
Everytime its time to go our ways, mom cries a little and dad shakes my hand. He has always been the practical guy.
I just got a call from home. My dad was on the other side of the phone.
For the first time ever, he told me that he misses me, worries about me, and he cried. I have never, ever seem him that way!
I am quite dumbfounded. Fucking hate to see my dad get emotional (even though its sort of a good thing).
I fucking wish I knew how to handle this!

Re: Fuck!
awww that is a fucking sweet thing. Enjoy and embrace the love he so obviously has for you. Probably feels a little bittersweet since he is so far away.
Oh my god, it's HUGE!

(((wh..sh)))
My family is similar. Close in ways, but not mushy. Especially my Dad, who's just... well, he's uber-shy and awkward, and rather formal. But as my parents get older, they are becoming more expressive of affection. Last time I saw them, he hugged me hard and told me to visit him more often.
Lucky420 is right. Enjoy the love they have for you and their increasing inclination to show it. (I know, I know -- easier said than done; I have a very hard time telling my parents I love them, especially over the phone, even though it's true.)

Re: Fuck!
Really, W..sh? That's a fuck? Sounds like a happy thing to me. Practice saying I love you to your parents at the end of a phone call. Get in the habit, like you might say, "drive safely" They might practice saying it back. Then when you really want to express it, it won't feel so awkward. Believe me you won't ever regret saying it or feel you expressed it too often.

Re: Fuck!
oh Fufu - Fuck that shit.
broken bones are fucked. A couple of years ago I broke my toe the night before I went on holidays - I refused to deal with it properly and limped for 6 weeks and had lots of pain every time I banged it again. I was fucking stupid not to deal with it. Hope it gets better soon

Re: Fuck!
I went and got xrays done first thing this morning, since my aunt just found out she's been walking around on a broken ankle for 6 months. Unfortunately the clinic computer system has been down all day, so I'm waiting for it to be back up and my xrays sent to the doctor. Not that it makes a difference, it's the same treatment whether it's broken or not.

Re: Fuck!
I am at the point of being hysterical and laughing as I get more bad news. After my best friend's surgery I lost it. A lot. Like rage-a-holic screaming about how she hasn't been able to get care for 7 months cause of negligence. So, everyone decided not to give me any more bad news. They thought maybe I had had enough and they should all play possum or something. However that's kinda hard when you end up on you tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9yRdDLy4r8 That's my friend in the video at the end with the mohawk. That's his work vehicle. He seems to be doing ok right now, he's lucky he walked away from it. But he's gonna be super lucky if he still has a job. Countless years as a master ac technician down the drain most likely.
Wtf universe? Fuck.
Thx to everyone here who keeps me positive. Hugs to everyone going through their own shit. I know we are all having a tough time. I know I am not unique. I just wish I could have a break for maybe a day or something. Fuck.

What I've learned here is that . . .wh..sh wrote:The fact that I posted it under fuck thread shows how socially awkward I amFuck!
I have to say, I panicked.
1) The apple didn't fall far from the tree (a practical man who's not free with his emotions raised a practical daughter who shares some of his non-demonstrative qualities), and
2) If he can crack a little and show his emotions, there is hope for you.
It's okay that you posted here! I imagine it was overwhelming. Maybe a little scary.

Re: Fuck!
We recently had the first person to break down on one of the bridges and survive, in quite some time.
They invariably get hit immediately by a semi, even while fleeing.
This one survived because a semi stopped and protected them.
