they don't make the ones like anymore. They fit perfect. Cant even find them on ebay. Lycra boy shorts. So I have to buy fabric and make my own.

I restocked the first-aid kit and put it in a new, sturdier container, which I marked with red crosses using red electrical tape.....
Um, yeah. That's all I did for BM today. And I might have wrecked a dress but it was already crappy anyways.

MyLarry will get out all the infrastructure this weekend, for the regional next weekend. This is when our real BMan prep happens. I supervise and keep him hydrated, fed and happy.

Ordered 4 el wire sets from bike glow $40ish with shipping and the BM discount.
I know someone posted to these boards cheaper ones on ebay, but seriously I know bike glow makes a good product that I trust - and it has 3 lighted modes instead of 2.

Fuck, Fishy.
I'm drunk.
I followed the "One victim..." link, only to find myself in the "One item..." thread, and I figured I had been confused. Then I saw your post and made the obvious and natural conclusion that we are psychic twins. Then I saw the title of your post and figured out what had happened.
This is taking a long time to type. I am spending a lot of time with the Backspace key.

I finished my tutu and the one for Deanie (since she is my fairy burn mother and magically taking me to BRC this year). I am very happy with the results especially since this is my first time trying. Mine is black and Deanie's is her fave color purple with tie dye ribbon to go with the whole Dye With Dignity camp theme.

I wish I could sport a purple mohawk year round, but I suspect that my business would suffer. And if it suffers much more I'll be living in a refrigerator carton on the corner.EmilyD wrote:Now that I HIGHLY approve of! My hair is purple year round! emilyD,
not sure about it holding up in a big wind or even medium wind. If I don't use it this year at BRC, I'll be sporting it around town and next year on the playa. I will have to practice taking it down really fast...

Picked up the steel I'll need for a playa art project, as well as some additional containers to hold powder coat material, and the wood needed to complete 'primary' construction of the deli counter. We also loaded up a bit on beer, you can't expect us to do any of this sober!

My list of necessary items to purchase/acquire/craft is growing pretty lean, which is good - so is my wallet! I'm 100% certain I can fit everything into two airline-acceptable bags and 80% certain I can cram it into one 50lb bag plus a carry-on. We shall see...

Re: One Item for BM a Day
While food shopping at the FoodMaxx I spied a bargain bin containing personal items. I snagged a shoeshine kit with brush, cloth, and polish for only 50 cents. I got some insole cushions too for 50 cents.
I baked 8 chicken quarters this week. My aide deboned them yesterday and washed the turkey pan. I think I'll do the same (and tupperware and freeze them) next month. I have 2 turkeys and 2 bags of quarters in my freezer and a whole chicken. I need to clean out my fridge anyway, so I'll bring some poultry snacks to share.
By the way, we've just about cleaned up the kitchen this week, next week we start on the living room. I want the house clean before I leave so that it will be nice to relax at home. I donated perishables and nonperishables to gleaners group that were ok, and filled up a trash bin with expired cans. My aide said I fed 4 families, and that the small wheelchair went to a 10 year old. It made me feel good.
I have an addiction to collect free things. I haunt freecycle and craigslist, and free sales after yardsales. I learned to collect stuff from my parents who were depression kids. I've given some things to my aide that I have no use for, and some other things to the gleaners. I have started to make a dent in all the crap I've collected just because it was free. That makes me feel good too. ( And after cutting out the Beta-blocker my heart rate is back up to normal.)

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Here goes... I had all intentions of starting to prepare early this year, but we didn't get confirmation of tickets until a few weeks ago (yay STEP!) and I've had an insanely busy semester anyway. If I can do one item a day till we leave I think I'll be in decent shape though, even if I don't have such awesome costumes as I was planning on.
So today... wash last year's playa out of the tent and make any needed repairs.

Back up goggles arrived yesterday, one pair each. Also got heavier duty dust masks than we had last time. These have the button in the center and are specifically for heavy dust. I got 10 so we'll be able to share.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Old Guy, I'm going to do the same with my pantry, my cupboards seem to be pretty full, so tonight I'm going to go through them and donate the excess to Help for People. Thanks for the motivation!
As for my one thing, I've been having issues with my BM van, such a silly issue, but something that the State of California has an issue with, so I tore down the dash board to remove the instrument cluster, and dumped out a few pounds of playa, cleaned all the contacts, and hopefully have fixed the issue.
I use this mini van for BM only. It runs beautifully, but the instrument cluster doesn't work sometimes, and if the smog tech can't see that the check engine light doesn't work, then it wont pass smog. No smog=no registration =how the hell do I get all my crap to the playa?
If I can't get the "playa flya" to pass the smog check, then I'll have to bring my 'over compensating, gas guzzling SUV' So, I'm totally motivated to get the minivan on the road.
Later tonight I'm going to try to first draft some designs for my camp logo.
Oh yeah, one other thing. The new recipe that I tried for the dilly beans came out wonderful. (with one little tweak) So, tomorrow I'm going to bust out a bunch of jars of dilly beans for Bloody Mary gifting.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Had a great supply run this morning. We needed more paint from a couple suppliers and have been overdue to go hit our favorite fabric joint. We got a lot of great stuff there, covering our needs for a few playa art projects as well as some clothing pieces we've got in the works.

Other than that, it was work work work… all in all, great day.

Digging deeper into the art box. Lots of good stuff which needs to be repurposed, nudged into completion.
Larry is getting the gear dug out for the regional, so this is a lot of our infrastructure prep getting done. I'm getting some sewing done too, but not costumes, stuff like seat covers and cooler cozies.
