The OP hadn't been on ePlaya long enough to know 1) what TRUE off-topic behavior is, and 2) that we're slightly relaxed about it.

All I can say is wow - if someone is that high strung about a message board, how the hell are they gonna deal with being in BRC.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Re: Can volunteer at undermanned theme camp and ride
There is more to being on the playa than the weather. Every sense (and sensibility) is assaulted in numerous ways, pretty much constantly. Somehow this much prissiness just don't seem like a good fit.

Re: Can volunteer at undermanned theme camp and ride
This lady is probably perfectly nice and will do fine on playa even if she does not want obvious sex or drugs happening in her chair in her camp. Perhaps she does not use message boards much or at all. Personally I find the snark here low in tone but still snark is snark and not everyone likes to deal with other peoples petty anonymous shit, even if low key. Message boards are not for everyone, me included for the most part. I don't like snarkiness online or in person actually and sometimes you folks are much less than welcoming, especially to people that really just do not understand why any rudeness would be directed towards them to begin with. I get your attitudes and they are generally not seriously mean spirited but I still think perhaps there could be a couple of threads that should be reasonably mellow for someone with no experience to come and find a spot to volunteer or ask a question from all you mighty ones with so much experience? Or helpful without having to read 100 posts to get the tone and understand the dynamic here? That does not seem too much to ask to me....just sayin. I am sure I will draw my own drama by this but seriously....!
Even Coachella has a thread called "Trick loves the kids...ask any question and I will be nice about it"! Of course I know that any reference to Coachella and I am probably drawing the wrath of Kahn:-( I am a newb so I am perhaps not a good candidate to do this since I do not have the answers to any questions unless I have read about them or talked to someone else that has given me information, but couldn't we have a thread that is helpful without snark for those that just don't want to deal with it or don't understand it? Yes it will be the same questions over and over more than likely but it does not seem that big of a deal. If you don't want to be sweet and lovey just stay away from the thread. I have infinitely more patience with people who just do not know better than I do with those that do and choose to be testy about it. I guess I will start one and see how it goes. If there is already one that I have missed please someone direct me to it:-)

Everyone was a Burgin at least once. EXCEPT last year. The weather was just too damn nice. If you were a Burgin last year you get a " do over " this year.

Thanks for the Radical Inclusiveness.
You've just circumscribed yourselves in included, and all others on the outside of that simplified line are not. And that's without the underhanded insults.

Eplaya is like a neighborhood crack dealer....the first snark is free.theCryptofishist wrote:Weinstain wrote:a. I will not be checking back here, no matter what email I get saying there's something here.
(but they keep coming back regardless)
but seriously; there are several ways to hook up with camps/art projects in need.
1) Ahead of time pre-playa (like you are doing now), but that tends to work best for people near each other who want to work pre-playa. This year because of the ticket issues faced by many camps, there are openings galore in many camps (and the afore mentioned places to look already set-up....) but usually most camps build by "word of mouth" locally, or by people meeting on-playa.
2) on-playa by going to center camp playa information
3) on-playa by wandering around looking for a cool camp or project that is still being set-up and offering to help
none of these methods talk about volunteering early for on-playa, because of the "playa time effect". Regardless of best intentions, it is almost impossible to be at a given place at a given time on-playa (the Larry Uncertainty Principle at work) especially for more than one person. Therefore, only casual attention is paid by most camps in need by offers by strangers of on-playa work this far in advance....most camps do not even realize how seriously behind they are yet, and wont for about 4 weeks.
Have you tried locating your Regional's Group? There is plenty of time this summer to meet local Burner's and get thoroughly entangled in a project pre-playa...
good luck with finding a needful project or camp that can put your enthusiasm and passion to good use!
"If you don't think too good, don't think too much" Ted Williams

Snark/good natured ribbing/ "can't you take a joke" on eplaya means vicious sarcastic insecure asshole douchebaggery. I am very curious to see how these eplaya nerds interact face to face at the meet and greet. I'm guessing they'll tone it down quite a bit.
Anyone taking offence at anything in my posts - tough. It's only an internet forum. Stop being overly sensitive. you are shallow and banal. Eplayans who spend hours a day posting need to make in person friends and mentally masturbate less.
