Looking for a few things

I'm looking for a few things for 2012:
1. Transpo from OC for one of our campers and his stuff.
2. A spigot that fits onto a typical 5-gal water jug (the one we've been using for several years finally succumbed to excess playa dust). A link to a site that sell's 'em would do, too.
3. Info on a rugged (i.e., "dance-able") tarp that could be placed over the playa surface and survive a week of activities, for the greater comfort of our many guests expected - ~400-600 altogether.
I tried using "Spark" for these, but they referred me to eplaya. Is there another site, too, or a better one?

I'm skeptical as well. Maybe canvas tarp, which is harder to come by and not cheap. Or go with plywood screwed together. Which has the added advantage of being less likely to become a tripping hazard...

We use it for our camp floor, it is ten years old now. It would basically hold up, but heels would puncture it. Once it gets a hole, the hole will begin to fray. Pulpy mess, no because it is fiber reinforced. But hold up? Meh.

In 2007, I bought a 40 foot x 60 foot hay tarp. Hay tarp, as in a tarp that hay farmers use to cover their hay bales against rain after harvest, before the hay bales are shipped to customers. Pretty darn sturdy tarp, seems to me. It cost $300,- , plus $50,- freight from Central Oregon to Northern California. That seems inexpensive to me, for what it is. Might do the job. White on one side, black on the other. Right now I cannot think of the name of the store. A farm equipment store in Madras, OR.

The cap on my water jug just got brittle and broke... I could open it with a pair of pliers, but that last bit got brittle and broke as well. looks like they don't have any available at this time.

If you've been using the jug for years, maybe it's time to get a new jug, the plastic's probably degraded a bit.

Hay tarp doesn't sound like something designed to be trod upon.

Burning Man's DPW uses Mirafi woven polypropylene geotextile (aka "road cloth") for much of the shade it puts up for infrastructure camps. It's designed for reinforcing road base on soft ground and to separate gravel drains from soil. Sand & gravel yards often sell it 12 ft and/or 17 ft wide off the roll (a whole roll is ~300 ft long). I've used it for camp shade and ground cloths. It frays on the cut edges, but you can fold it over and nail it down with lumber spikes. Should be able to find some in the southland.

Not sure much is going to be effective this year if the lakebed surface is real crumbly. Maybe you should dance at home and just meditate on the playa.
