I'm not much of a 'scar feeler'. How long ago did this happen? I'm curious about the circumstances as I have a dear friend with a similar story.gyre wrote:No, but when I was in icu expected to die, I did make jokes about it.Dr Jet Sinister wrote:I don't know anything about it. Re: Damaged Envelope; Missing Tickets
As far as scanning tickets, yes they can have a self contained system. Since all purchases are done prior to the event, they can load the ticket database on to a local server and run a wifi cloud at the gate for scanners. No need for internet connectivity. We did this one year for our local music festival for pre-purchased tickets. Simple and easy....junglesmacks wrote:gyre wrote:Couldn't be self contained?
Sure it could.
Reliability in such an adverse environment is a big concern.
They may not want to chance something of that magnitude just yet.
Ask them.

Re: Damaged Envelope; Missing Tickets
The USPS recently lost my tickets. I was tracking it with the tracking number and on the morning of 7/5, it said it was on its way to my apartment. But then there were no other updates after that. I've called for the past week to see what happened, and nobody can find it, nor can they find the carrier responsible for not checking it back in. I also contacted BM support with my situation, so we'll see if I have the same luck and get issued another ticket!!! *crossing fingers, legs, and toes*

Re: Damaged Envelope; Missing Tickets
What's this mean to someone who purchased their tickets directly from someone who "won" the lottery but can't use the tickets? Is there supposed to be some kind of name change?trilobyte wrote:Tickets will be scanned at the gate.
My ticket was not scanned last year...at least not in my presence.
Don't bore your friends with all your troubles. Tell your enemies instead, for they will delight in hearing about them.
Re: Damaged Envelope; Missing Tickets
So, possession of an actual physical BM ticket, and not on the tickets2.burningman.com/faq.php#fraud list, does not guarantee it's valid and you will be granted entry.trilobyte wrote:Tickets will be scanned at the gate.
Anyway to check a specific ticket in advance?

Re: Damaged Envelope; Missing Tickets
My guess is the scanning of the ticket is only checking the validity of the ticket not that it's one of the revoked, lost, stolen, etc, ticket numbers.

Re: Damaged Envelope; Missing Tickets
This year there is not. Be cautious when buying, if it doesn't feel "right" trust your instincts, and study the hell out of that ticket to make sure it's flawless- sharp graphics, tight printing, clean embossing, holographic foils laid down precisely...Canoe wrote:Anyway to check a specific ticket in advance?
From the Ticket FAQ
Q: How can I verify that my ticket purchased from a third party reseller is authentic? Tips for buying third party tickets.
We are unable to verify or guarantee the authenticity of tickets bought or sold through a third party. For this reason, and because we are unable to provide any information regarding ticket purchases to a party other than to the cardholder on the order, we do not recommend purchasing tickets from third-party resellers.
If you are purchasing a third party ticket it is best to do so in person so that you can check the ticket for security features (foil on the front and back, special embossing), and to make sure the price printed on the ticket matches what the seller is asking you to pay. If you are buying a third party ticket via mail, make absolute sure you are sending payment in a way that you can get refunded if the ticket is fake or you not received in the mail. Western Union is not a protected way to send money as the person can retrieve payment without an ID and can disappear. Paypal seems to be the safest way to purchase tickets remotely but you should make absolute sure that your transaction is refundable should things go wrong.
We are not responsible for third party transactions. If you are scammed you should contact your local police department and file a report (the report should be made in the county where the crime occurred - ie: where you made the transaction or expected to receive the ticket via mail). In addition to filing a report, please email us at [email protected] with any information you have about scammers and we will post updates on our ticket page to warn participants of known scams.

ER, no scan, painkillers.
Bad.
This happens a lot, but mostly to people that are impaired and can't complain, elderly and infirm.
My survival and recovery is not normal, and wasn't expected, except by me.
What choice did I have?
My inability to give up was a factor, according to my neurosurgeon.
There's a lot more, if you want to email me.
Also had no rehab, no one knows why.
I know a lot of people in the local tbi survivors group, if you want me to ask them anything.
One guy has triple vision, has lost all his knowledge as a musician, was in a coma a long time.
When I finally get treated, I drive to the hospital, walk across the parking lot.
Wait in the er, when they find out who I am, they won't let me stand up.
Roll me into icu.
I didn't have to ask any questions about what that meant.
I was so giddy to finally get help, that I was pretty happy.
Funny part - surgeon shows me the scan, says this is hard to read... it wasn't.
I've told him he will never have a more eager patient for surgery.
I would have used a drill myself at times.
It feels like what it is.
That's why it is the oldest type of known surgery.
My surgeon was the guy that takes all the hopeless neuro cases here.
I checked into him, but I never checked his survival rate.
I know it's low.
I've read my surgical report.
Graphic.
The survivors group is what helped me live with it.
There are some good books out there about dealing with this, but mine are gone now.
If I can help your friend, let me know.
Re: Damaged Envelope; Missing Tickets
so, anyone know the email address for in ticketing?
The tracking mail has contact link as http://tickets2.burningman.com/contact. Is this where I contact In ticketing?

Have my Tickets Shipped Yet?
everybody relax...If you selected "USPS Secure" or "Canada" as the delivery method for your order you will receive an email notification with tracking information once your order has shipped. We began shipping tickets mid-June 2012 and expect that all orders from the Pre-Sale and Main Sale will be finished shipping the week of July16. If you still haven't received your shipping notification email at that time, please contact us.
AFTER YOU RECEIVE YOUR TICKET SHIPPING NOTIFICATION:
If you do not receive your ticket order within 4 weeks of your shipment notification email please contact us. Before then, we ask that you not contact support asking where your tickets are, as it slows down our response time to other people needing help.

Fucking typical. And I bet we're a half-assed delivery method that uses field mice and pumpkins and counts on them to turn into horses and stagecoaches for a few hours every evening. If your tickets are in transit come midnight, they could end up anywhere.theCryptofishist wrote:It's the economy. A new sort of austerity measure.

Will call is not an option for me, because I generally arrive on Playa to work before the box office is open.
