Re: ARRIVAL
Dogs are the leaders of the planet. If you see two life forms, one of them’s making a poop, the other one’s carrying it for him, who would you assume is in charge?

Re: ARRIVAL
6pm Sunday. If you arrive early without the proper early entry pass, they will divert you into a makeshift parking lot that will take hours to exit when the gate finally does open. If your goal is to arrive at 6pm sharp, plan on arriving in Gerlach at 5:30ish.

Re: ARRIVAL
You will not be at Gate at 6pm sharp so don't even try. If you get there early, you end up in D Lot and may not get in until Monday morning.plantmandan wrote:If your goal is to arrive at 6pm sharp, plan on arriving in Gerlach at 5:30ish.
Don't plan on hanging out in Gerlach, it pisses off the locals (who we need to continue to like us for the event to keep on keeping on). Leave Reno at 4-4:30 and you should hit the line for Gate sometime around 6-8ish, depending on how many other thousands of people decide they want to be at Gate at 6pm sharp.

I guess when the ticket was designed they didn't know that it would be at 6 on Sunday evening, so the ticket isn't accurate. Maybe it will help spread out entry, at least this year.
The reason why they say "don't be early" is that they don't want the two-land highway to become a parking lot.
One thing often said about the burn (although I've seen it elsewhere) is "the map is not the territory." I think that applies here.

Re: ARRIVAL
Giving this a nudge over to the Transportation board.
Both are right. Technically, the event begins at 12:01am Monday morning (as the ticket says). However, the BLM has granted Burning Man the permission to open the gates at 6pm on Sunday.
As others have said though, don't make plans to come queue hours (or days) before the gates open. If you show up very early they just turn you around and send you away (and it's a couple hours' drive back to Reno), otherwise they move you to D-lot, which is a holding area and something along the lines of Burning Man purgatory.

Re: ARRIVAL
I am determined to make this years' lines a party. I mean, really, if I'm going to be stuck in a line for eight hours, I think it's stupid to not start partying then and there. How about a thread suggesting great ways to pass the time? Mama

By partying, you mean joking around and having good conversations?? Right?mamasharon wrote:I am determined to make this years' lines a party. Law Enforcement will ticket anyone with open containers. (and probably search your vehicle too) So, be smart. Wait till you are at your camp before having a "cold one".
