Nervous first steps of a virgin
Hey fellow burners I'm a native from Kentucky about to go off to college soon and I've decided to get started early on a first trip to BRC next year since this year is out of question for me. Traveling to and from BM seems too daunting a journey for me right now so im looking to make some connections with people for travel ideas and to make new friends that I can meet on my first trip to BM. I'm 18 and have a wide variety of interests and I'm open to meet anyone fun and adventurous! So hit me up on here and lets make some plans

Hey Kiddo! Hehe! Sorry, couldn't help it.
Go here to find Kentucky regional contacts and try the neighboring states as well. Adding yourself to several email lists never hurts.

If you're a little daunted by how much work it is to get to the Burn (especially the first time) it probably actually means you're playing with a full deck! (And probably that you've done at least some reading). Well, good. Keep doing it. Read the Survival Guide linked below if you haven't. It's got a starter list of stuff to bring. Making an amazing list will (probably) help you feel a lot better.
Being radically self-reliant is a Burn principle, so you'll be happiest at the Burn (and here on ePlaya--which is a very different place) if you make self-sufficiency an ideal.
Googling keywords + eplaya is a great way to find threads here if you get stuck. Folks here obviously answer questions too, with varying degrees of patience. Welcome.

Try to camp on the good side of the man.
Make sure you have hats with tiedowns.
Essential.

Most of the basic advise about joining camps is in here.
You may not need one, actually. Think about what you need for self-sufficiency, especially as it's late in the year to join camps.

Welcome to eplaya.
We tried sombreros last year and they were a failure - too floppy in the wind.

Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Yay, another 2013 newbie!
My boyfriend and I are making it a goal to go next year. I didn't even have any plans to go this year, but I'm heartbroken I'm not there. We're in Connecticut, and he wanted to fly out. I'd much rather make it a road trip. Fortunately, I have friends this year who did both, so I can make an informed decision!

Flying is really inconvenient.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Re: Nervous first steps of a virgin
Next year I will be my first burn, lets hope. I glide with translucent wings they shall never be clipped or comprimosed for anything lesser. I have a open soul to the universe and to everything living and non living! I am a nomadic soul that is grounded by LOVE. And I feel there will be a bigger awakening next year. I can't wait to meet new people and amazing life forces ♥
