Re: How to Dye With Dignity!
I'm getting emails from people who read our Who What When and are so excited to come see us! I'm pinching myself. Thank you thank you thank you everyone who has helped make this happen.

PS: are there any specific times for the dying? (they may have been posted and I am probably totally missing it)
I should just bring some white silk scarves to play with, no?

We are open every afternoon. A nice place to escape the heat of the day (hopefully the swamp cooler thing works as well as everyone says lol).
We have scarves, but if you want to bring your own that's great!
I'm getting downright giddy about it all!

And ya, I'll bring some of my own scarves so those you already purchased can be used by others.
THANK YOU for puttin' all this together. So. Glad you are able to make it after all the dramz!

12 scarves (and 2 masks) ordered!
I figured I'd want to dye/paint a bunch and give 'em out as gifts. lol. AND this way if I bring some friends/campmates, they can use some of my scarves - leaving Dye w/Dignity to dole yours out to other burners!

You can get a small screen printer and screen images of the Man onto people's various clothing and fabrics. Then they can decorate the fabric with any type of ink or dye to finish their artwork on their clothing. Some people might just want the screen printed image and others might want to go wild.
Wow... I'm really late to the discussion party on this one... and I'm guilty of not reading all the way to the end... but if the screen printing option got traction, one of your camp members already has a great burning man screen print that he is using to make some camp gifts.... I can put you in touch with him if you want to discuss sharing it. It even has a little Texas twist to remind them of you.....

No problem.. it was just a fleeting thought. I've now had time to read the rest of your post. Glad you finally managed to get off from work for the trip. Maybe we will see you in Fernley on Friday night again?? We plan to stay at the same place. And if you want to caravan out there... we plan to leave here Wednesday morning. See you in the dust...

Re: How to Dye With Dignity!
Maybe make embroidery hoop screeens next year? Or stencils, those are fun and simple.
I found my color change 3-d fabric paints. Tubes of that dimensional stuff which are one color in the shade (usually white) and another in direct sun. Drawback: takes about four hours to dry completely. I have neon fabric pens, and I checked my bottles of textile paint, only two are viable. I'll bring them, do you have brushes? I have some extras, I think.

Re: How to Dye With Dignity!
we have lots and lots of brushes thanks to danuslight.
I have three little contributions to the wayward art. I had two really large paintings done by a friend, but I left them at work and I just can't go back to that place.

Re: How to Dye With Dignity!
I want to thank everyone who helped this little dream explode on the playa. Our little camp was better than anything I could have imagined. Such a sweet and fun community we built together!
I had no idea that many people would want to participate in my heart's dream and was overwhelmed with the love and the interaction. Ken and I are already reviewing what we did and how we could do it better. Suggestions welcomed.
A kickstarter, indiegogo thing has been suggested, but I'm struggling with asking for money. Input on that is appreciated too. On the other hand, ken and I ate a lot of peanut butter and cereal instead of real food to be able to bring what we did lol. It would be nice to eat real food and still be able to afford to bring Dye with Dignity back to the playa.
My heart and soul is filled beyond any capacity I thought possible. Thank you for all the love.

I feel the same way about asking for money. but even a smaller kickstarted would help alot. And it should be one of those kind that you get whatever funds come in not the "won't be funded unless you reach this $____ amount."
just my 2 cents

Re: How to Dye With Dignity!
I am so glad we got to Dye with dignity, my boyfriend and i had fun making them and they were used as dust masks, shoulder covers when i started to sunburn, i used them as a skirt and top one day and as a blanket when i got cold before the temple burn
I am doing laundry now and wondering how to set the dye and wash them without loosing any of the beauty they have. Can you tell me the best way to set and wash the silk scarves?

Perfect! perfect perfect perfect. You have made my heart 100% bigger with this post.
To really really set it, run it on hot in the dryer for 15-20 minutes. After that you should be able to wash on delicate in cold water. I put mine in a lingerie bag and just toss in the washer. If you don't mind post a picture sometime! I'd love to see your scarf. I didn't get a lot of pictures of people's creations.

Re: How to Dye With Dignity!
I will post a picture after I wash them so you can see the real color instead of the playa color. I would love to dye more things, that was my first and you have me addicted.... I will have to read through the thread to see if you mentioned what dye you had on playa and maybe expand from there.
