I know someone who might not be able to make it to the burn. They got a low-income ticket.
Can they transfer it to someone, or sell it back to the Ticket Gods, so that someone else can use it, or is it wasted if they can't make it?
I'm not sure how much notice they will have, so it might end up being very late timing.
I told him that I thought low income tickets were in no way transferable, but he doesn't want it to go to waste, if it doesn't have to.

The ticket should be returned to the low income ticket program.
If he doesn't wait too late, it can be re-issued to the next person in line.
Email lowincome at burning man.com to return the ticket.

Re: Transfer or sell-back of low income ticket?
I received a Low income ticket (thank you playa gods! or I would have had to miss this year) and it clearly stated in the rules you cannot sell the ticket or transfer it. Also if you cannot use it you need to contact the low income ticket program to tell them, if you do not and let the ticket go to waiste you could be denied a low income ticket in the future.
Tell your friend to send them an email today to let them know he cannot use it.

Thanks, JovReef.
Obviously, he hasn't read the stuff he got. I'll point this out to him, when I enlighten him as to how he got me to waste so many people's time with this question.

No problem. You can also inform him that the sooner he does this, the sooner he will brighten someone elses day when they get an Email from LIT that 'due to a cancelation they are being awarded a low income ticket'.

Yeah, he's going to make someone very happy . . .
Hopefully that will be a comfort to him.
