How to get participation?
How to get participation?
I am helping a friend who is doing a college paper on the 10 principals at burning man. She needs people to come in and be interviewed one or two at a time most (it will be recorded).
We were thinking of just grabbing people as the walk by camp (earlier in the day while still sober) and asking them to participate, the interviews would take 15-20ish minutes and we wanted to offer either momossa's or milk and cookies while being interviewed.
If you were stopped and asked to participate would you for momossa's or milk and cookies? Do you have any better suggestions for us to entice people to help?

The correct answer is always nudity and fire. These are the primal attractants.
Failing that, you can stake out center camp.

I'm going to assume that you meant to spell it mimosa. Momossa sounds like den mothers deciding to bake their own damn cookies, thank yo u very much.
I'm a cranky little snark and I don't know that I'd answer. However, I think that you'll find plenty of people would be glad to help with or without refreshments. Although, if having something to offer in return makes it easier to go and ask someone, then that's useful. The other option would be a really nice piece of schwag.

Can't lose with either offer, but if I'm drinking it out of my cup, I'd probably want to avoid the milk residue. But really, both will work....
Not as well as nudity or fire.......or bacon, though.

Liquid bacon leave a huge amount of residue in your cup!

With fire and nudity, sometimes alittle bacon residue in your cup can help.

Why not have her drop by the Meet & Greet 6 p.m. Thursday at Barbie Death Camp & Wine Bistro right on the corner of 4:00 and Edelweiss and ask there? That's a pretty good cross-section of like-minded people.

Is she filming, or just doing an audio recording? That might make a difference to a lot of people. Unless I'm acquainted with someone, and fully support their aims, I wouldn't want to be videotaped or to have my remarks attributed, but being audiotaped anonymously is different to me (and probably other people). Being willing to accept "Playa Names" if names are requested is also smart.

I like Mimosas. I'm sure I'd be tempted. No promises, though. There is a lot I could be doing at Burning Man in 15 minutes rather than helping someone earn her degree and get more attention directed to an event that it's hard for me & my friends to get tickets for. Know what I mean?

Also, I reckon she should promise people 15 minutes, and ask the really free-form questions at the end so that if people want to KEEP talking, she can let them.
Re: milk and cookies. Chocolate milk is practically an electrolyte drink (see Google). Get some of those shelf-stable milk boxes (from the juice aisle, next to the juice boxes) in chocolate and regular. They don't have to be kept cold all the way to the event, you just chill them in a cooler for a while before you need them.

Re: How to get participation?
Wow, thanks for the wonderful tips guys!
Due to her being my boyfriends mom, I will not be suggesting either of us go nude in this project. So it looks like 'Bacon and mimosa's
" or 'milk boxes and cookies'. We are bringing playa dust necklaces as gifties so we can say thanks with those also.
It's just an audio recording, so we are all good there. I will suggest to her the playa name instead of real name, and stopping by center camp and Barbie Death Camp also

Suggest the thesis writer get some guidance on research design from whomever is approving the final work. The unique environment of the event makes good research design difficult. It's and art and a science. But if you just want to interview whomever you find or who volunteers, all the suggestions by the fine eplayans are fine.

It's not a placed camp but interview will be ongoing thoughout the week. As soon as she has all the details hashed out I'll let you all know. I'd love for you to stop by and participate

Given that you're intending to serve strangers, they might trust canned beer or other drinks more than something you mix up, but I'd say sheer tube tops would help for bait more than whatever you're serving.

There was a similar art project using refrigerators in 2005.
Photographs were an option.
Results were supposed to be displayed later.
