August ticket sale...details anywhere?
I know someone who is looking to buy a ticket, and she has no computer or credit card.
Is there a way she can still buy a ticket (assuming she's lucky enough) in the August open sale?
I bought my ticket in the December deal, so I believe that means that my name is not going to work on her ticket.
However, can I enter the process for her, putting down all her info? How will she be asked to pay? I presume that taking cash to the will-call window is a no-no.
Has this kind of thing been figured out yet? I really want to get her to the playa, I'm hoping this will get her there!

They are going to be pounced on, I believe.
She needs a credit card and access to a computer. You can buy credit cards that are really something else--pre-loaded with the money she needs. I don't know the details, they are in earlier threads in response to similar questions for the main sale.

Really? All kinds of fail?
Your ID is roughly 700 days old, and you've posted 4700 times, so that's coming up on 7 posts per day. Should I expect that a majority of them are trolling? Oh, wait, yes, look at your sig, they apparently are and you enjoy making fun of it...ok.
Well, I hope you stop by and see me at my theme camp...Yet Another Tiki Bar...7:15 & Geranium is the placement I got. I'll shake your hand, pour you a drink, and hopefully introduce you to the woman I'm asking for.
I wasn't expecting the open sale on 8/3 to follow the same rules as the December lottery, since that was a lottery and not a sale. I haven't gone back and looked at the rules for last year's sale, but I suppose I should, as those rules might apply for this as well.

Re: August ticket sale...details anywhere?
The details of the sale are hidden in the Burning Man ticket FAQ, which is linked to on the front page of the Burning Man website.
For your questions: the person must pre-register online (requiring a computer), and the tickets are non-transferable (meaning the person who buys them is the only one who can use them). The credit card question isn't explicitely answered, but it appears that they're being even stricter than in the main sale on these, so the credit card requirement will probably be enforced.

Re: August ticket sale...details anywhere?
I think junglesmacks' point was that you failed in the radical self reliance department. Having gone through the ticket process yourself in December you should have already known a really great place to look for info. He was snarky to be sure, but did have a valid point. Glad to see you got it sorted, and good luck to your friend.

Am I the only one that sees the irony that radical self-reliance requires both a computer and a credit card... or is that the booze talking?

See, if you printed up your own money orders, you'd be practicing more radical self-reliance and you could send an army of pigeons...

Next year Burning Man's BJ ticket economy will solve these inconsistencies.

I am hearing that they may take BACON as an alternative to a credit card, The tough part will be getting all that BACON into the Router to send it.

If she really lives in the stone age and has no debit card or computer then why not enter for a ticket yourself and sell her your $420 one if you are lucky enough to get one of the august sale ones?

Re: August ticket sale...details anywhere?
JovReef-I thought of that, but the way I read all the literature, anybody that got a ticket through one of the other methods will not be eligible to get one this way. I expect this to mean that they will remove me from the sale if I register for it.
I think we might have it figured out though. We're going to get together for the sale and deal with it then...this can't be the first time that someone has had to pay cash for a ticket. It might just be that she can present the cash at will-call; I don't know.

Re: August ticket sale...details anywhere?
As has been mentioned, no tickets for cash. You can get a pre-paid debit card from most banks and check cashing joints around the world, use that. But do make sure you have enough to cover the purchase price plus fees (which should come to $409). My personal recommendation would be to pad it by A few more dollars, then use the remaining balance to buy celebratory beers, champagne, cake, etc.

For what it's worth, people are reporting here http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic. ... 77#p863777 that names on the credit card and ticket don't have to match for the 1,000 ticket sale.
