Expectoration...teeth brushing. Spit or swallow?

K, here maybe dumb question but here goes...To spit or swallow?....iv been back packing and am familiar with lack of bathing facilities an so forth, however, in the woods you can always spit your brushed teeth muck under a bush or in grass or something but obviously not out there. Just wondering what other people do, do you spat into your evap-pond? Do you swallow? Do you use baking soda and do a mostly dry-ish brush? I'm going for minimalist with my camp, no fancy kitchen/dish washing. one bowl, one cup, handiwipes...thanks for your tooth brushing stories. Silly I know but was wondering!

Is a paper towel too extravagant for you? Otherwise, a cloth to be laundered when you get home.

I have actually done the 1) minimal toothpaste and a swig from a water bottle 2) brush 3) swallow, when I was in a hurry and had nothing set up. I've also spit into my own evap pond on occasion, though not constantly.

It's usually about keeping water and toothpaste to a true minimum and spitting into a kleenex, which goes in my tent wastebasket. It's open, it'll dry out fast. After all, the baby wipes sure do, if you're not careful.

Empty gatorade bottle = spittoon. One bottle should last the week as long as you don't use giant amounts of rinse water. Pack it out with your garbage at the end.

Set up a schedule, when you are done brushing your teeth spit into your fellow campmate who continues brushing, continue until the last person spits into the evap pond. This is efficient use of toothpaste.

Also: Whiskey kills the germs that cause bad breath (except whiskey breath).

Floss first, sheesh!

Then brush with the usual (toothpaste and water) and use the gatorade splooge bottle or your grey water jug (or spit into an absorbent tissue/paper towel and burn).

If I have to swallow then I'll use something more friendly (and not as toxic) to my body - say baking soda and vodka?

That gave me a BIG BELLY laugh, hahahaaaa! You really DO use baking soda and vodka I know this, I has to be true! You can swallow it and get a nice warm buzz? no? yes?

Peppermint oil mixed with water makes a great swill for brushing your teeth and you can swallow it. if you mix about 10 to 1 oil to water or to taste.

Yeah, I'd actually be more comfortable swallowing a little mouthwash than toothpaste. That'd be a good one-off. Minty, and mildly drunkening.

I discovered brushing my teeth at the porta-johns last year. I will never do it any other way. I'm taking a toothbrush and paste in my car and just git er done. Every year I totally jack my teeth from only brushing a couple times during the event due to the inconvenience. This way I'm there, and spit into the deep blue.

Flouride toothpaste is actually toxic. Not meant to be swallowed. I use the trash bag method.
