protip: add some sweet to your salty by sprinkling brown sugar on the bacon before baking it.EmilyD wrote: The bacon...I learned to pre-cook on a rack in the oven. That leaves most of the grease here at home. Then I pack and freeze the bacon and when it's time to cook, just fry it up quickly on site. OMG it was pure salt heaven last time!
i am drooling just thinking about it. that's how the cafe at work makes its bacon. the BLTS they make are so flavorful....

Weird, I bought the same things today... but no wipes. We have a ton, found a case on clearance a couple years ago.

Started turning my american desert camo into Soviet camo by putting red stars on it. I think it was done in the "We pretend to work and they pretend to pay us" era, the stars look kinda drunk.

Gathering up food and costumes and set up a room for staging it all. One fully complete Waterboat, another almost done, and will start a third today. Now that I've got the logistical problems solved I hope to knock out at least one per day:

Also filled up my coffee bags:

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Busy weekend (so far), taking a few minutes to relax a bit before getting into a bit of painting. I did another run of silk screening shirts for campmates, plus we had a very fruitful supply run: additional paint for projects in progress, more rope for securing structures, some larger/taller bins (tall enough to accommodate booze bottles), a couple new folding camp chairs to replace some old/worn ones, a small table to serve as a cleanup station in our kitchen (keeping that separate from prep and serving), another extension cord and power strip for the shower pump (last year we made do with shared cables and switching stuff around), some stools for behind the deli counter, and some pieces of carpet (personal and to add to what we use under the shade structures at camp). As if that wasn't plenty, we also made a pretty big dent in the booze we'll need to get as well. This morning I even managed to get some lighting gear ordered for the trikes. Outside of shopping, Pandorra managed to make some great progress on the 'brain in a jar' project and finish a couple awesome sewing projects, and I spent many hours slaving over hot lasers. Got the custom parts made for something I want to do with my trike, and then tinkered along with an acrylic tag design I've been working on. It's been full of challenges, but I got it to a place where I'm really happy with the design, now it's just a matter of getting things etched and cut. I have more laser time booked at the end of the week, so I can table that for now and work on some other stuff. Lots left to do!

Today I pre-packed both my camel backpack and my hip/belt pack. For my first time 'round, I want to have options. In organizing I added a few more things to my "buy in Reno" list.
Also finished sewing His and Her matching cargo kilts.

Bleach.
Also, thought of a way to repair the handle of my toiletry bag, which got a bit shredded in the washer last year. So that was cool, because it's a really handy bag with a lot of compartments.

I don't know if it's harder to raise an eyebrow on the internet or harder to raise an eyebrow when you're a fish.

Cleaned up and repainted the tongue of my playa trailer:

Applied "White Knight" reflective coating to the roof. Science is awesome - before the bare galvanized roof would get too hot to touch, now it stays nice and cool even in direct sunlight:

Installed my solar panel from last year and wired it up to my battery/12v power unit:

Note the awesome 24 foot crop circle on my lawn from having the dome set up for several months :p

Aside: Working with a wire wheel on an angle grinder on a hot day - one must choose between bearing the heat with long sleeves, and yelling "OW FUCK!!" Every few minutes.

re checked my packing list and now 3 out of my 4 bags are packed. Just have clothes left to pack and a few things that need to be sewn.
