Geez guys and I thought I was the queen of hand injuries. (I tend to do myself in cause I can't feel my hands 50% of the time due to neuropathy) Anyway take care of yourselves! No more hurts! And hugs to those of you going through just fucking tough times and money problems. I am there too and know what it feels like. I wish I could help more beyond supportive words. My thoughts are with you all. You are always there for me. Fuck seems to be in the air, My twinny in our fire conclave cut her finger open on Wednesday night 6 stitches...and its her poi swinging finger.

That's what my daughter says.

Surgery went well. Dr said that she severed a tendon 80% and without the surgery there is no telling when the last 20% woulds one day pop and then she would not be able to bend her thumb. She only nicked the nerve and will regain most of the feeling in her thumb. She said she can already feel the end of her thumb again. Of course she is feeling fucking pain there but that is a good sign. She has to start therapy Monday. The dr. said that after being injured the tendon has to be worked right away or it will turn to "mush".

Dam fucking glad we got the surgery done.

A pin was put in to replace the tendon. I can bend my finger but that first joint doesn't bend and my typing goes wonking sometimes because of it...

Absolutely big humongous get-well wishes to your daughter, box burner. Stay strong for her, and have patience with yourself and your own emotions. I know very well it can be rough, but this is the burner community, and we stick by you.

I felt the same emotions of frustration and lack of patience with my own father, who just had a quadruple bypass about 3 weeks ago. I was ready to pack up and head back to my old home town to help out and then found out he had A-1 health care facilities. How good? Well, he's 82 years old, and was released to go home as of this past Wednesday. I was on pins and needles, but now no longer.

It seems that hands are more fucking resilient that one would think.

My friend repaired his own hand and has worked as a metal artist, ie blacksmith for years.

He doesn't even see it as an unusual thing to do.
He was a teenager when he did this.

Advanced major surgery is something else though.
I don't even expect anyone else to fucking believe it.

I've done a lot of minor surgery on myself, but he's way over the top.
I've only heard of similar things in isolation, where no medical could be reached.

I was working in a customers house when I hear a pop.. Something like snapping a pencil in two.. Pulled my hand up to look.. I had blown a tendon on the top of my fuck you finger.. It went limp like a wenner that had layed out on a counter for days.. The customer was an old lady that had been a nurse.. She broke a cloth pin in half and splinted the finger.. Doctor put a fucking PINK plastic cast on it.. Everyone got the finger wave for six weeks.. After that the top of the finger had a large lump.. State insurance payed 11 hundred for lose of used.. The same day I received the check, I was talking with a Polish accent (aka waving my hands around while talking). I hit a room corner with the not quite healed finger.. That hurt so fucking bad I almost cryed. When I could bear to look at the finger the lump was gone.. Everything was fine, the finger work great.. But I do not recommend the cure.

Where I work there was a superintendent who had fallen off the tailgate of his pickup and broken his index finger. He was in his mid-60's and his finger healed but it was always crooked to the left. One day he was in the midst of chewing out one of the workers and we heard from that hand,

'Hold it! Let me move a little to the right so you're pointing at me when you say it!"

All of us nearly collapsed laughing.

found out I lost an old friend, to fucking cancer. fucking cancer, again.......cool gal, ran a restaurant/beer/gun shope/gold mining equip place, in a little town near hear......came from Okinawa with her hubby (who was a marine in WWII, on Iwo Jima, knew one of the "flag raisers", provided cover fire, for the "originals") and served authentic Okinawan food for 40 years......always with a smile, and if you were poor and hungry, you could mow the lawn or wash a dish.....or, not at your choice.
Damn fucking cancer!!!
seems losing friends is what we do, at times, and with age...........
