My name is Jek Jek, I'm currently a full time student at OCI in the Baking and Pastry Department. I've burned 3 years, will unfortunately be missing this year for school and I'm not entirely sure what happened to my last eplaya account (I think I may have been inactive for too long)

Almost 50, ready for the next 50.... Crafting is what I need to do.... How will that fit into the rest of my life.....I just dont know... this is my question on the road to 2013, hopefully my first Burning Man....
Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
Hi Quicksprung! Welcome to the board.
You might like the "Costuming & Crafting" thread in the Clothing & Playawear subforum. It's currently up to 59 pages, but here's a link to page 1. (Go to page 59 if you wanna see people hurrying through their current projects!) Either way, this info doesn't really age:
http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic. ... 79&t=34307
There's a lot of good reading here for you; dive in. A year's time to prepare is very sound.

Hi I'm Cory.
My wife Laura and I will be going to the playa for the first time this year. We're very active with the Toronto regional community. I sit on the regional board of directors, am volunteer coordinating Mooseman (our regional festival) and am working hard on Rise of the Planet of the Moose, Toronto's Core Effigy project. Basically I'm way more into this than any newbie should be but it took me a while to get my shit together and actually get to Nevada.
We're camping with the Dusty Swans at 4:45 and Hedonism Hopefully.
Can't wait.

Ah, the Dusty Swan! It's one of the places I aim to visit. Ludo was here the other day, mentioning it.

My name is Loring from Los Angeles. My friend Ken and I are both very experienced, articulate and compassionate voyagers that could be helpful to those who are having a difficult trip.
We were hoping to stay at Fractal Village but it appears they may be closed. We have a full Sized Van and Tent and were hoping to find a village that offers what Fractal Village does meals, water, electricity, etc. I’ve been scouring the net and have perused the BM theme and Village list but they don’t list which villages offer these services. We not expecting anything for free and hope you can point us in a positive direction. Thanks in advance,
Love, light and liberty

Hi Loring,
I can't tell whether you've also been through the 2012 Theme Camps forum here, but it's worth a shot.
http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewforum.php?f=283
Some are closed, but not all.
Camps don't tend to be listed or categorized by what they offer their campers, because they're at least 60%-70% focused on providing a unique experience or service to the city at large, rather than their own campers. That said, for sufficient work or fee, comforts can obviously be found. Shower and shade is a common minimum for the bigger camps, meals and water a step above that, electricity is least likely, but not impossible.

Hey all,
My names Noah and I am from portland, OR, first burn year but have been involved with the community for a while through some other camps and events in portland and such. The stoke is real high over here, will be wandering with a good group and hanging with pier camp along with our unnamed-as-of-yet camp. If you see someone in a full length (artificial) grizzly bear coat with a mustache say hi!

Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
Hi, my name is kevin. I am coming to Burning Man for the first time from about 2400 miles away, from near Brantford, Ontario, Canada. I had planned a trip last year but was caught off guard when tickets sold out, so went to Wasteland Weekend, a Mad Max themed camp-in event in the Southern California desert, instead. I don't live close enough to Toronto to be as active as I'd like in the local network, but I have gone to several Toronto area Decompression events, UndieComp, Santarchy (I was the Spanish Inquisition Santa and Saint Nicholas), Bunnarchy (I was the Steampunk Easter Bunny.) I'm also on staff for SFContario, Ad Astra, Anime North, Polaris, and have volunteered at several Worldcons. I don't have a ride, I don't have a camp, I don't have a clue, but that's what this board is for.

So I have been lurking about on eplaya for a while and thought i'd say hi.... super excited its FINALLY August which means its almost time!
the BM dreams have kicked in which means shit is about to get crazy!!! hehe!
My name is Alana, aka Bones, I'm coming from Melbourne and I am very fortunate to have joined up with the crew at Spanky's wine bar for my first burn.
As I have never been to the USA, I'm also looking for advice for post-bm holiday? I have 12 days after burning man that I need to fill and I am tossing up the idea of 12 days in Mexico as a post-bm treat..
See you on the playa

Idathought that living in Australia meant you didn't need to go to our tropical paradises...
Of course, if lying on a beach is what you love most, or if you've just got to see the cenotes (I do hope I spelled that right) then you're fine.

I had to pass up the '09 Burn because I'd spent all my money and vacation time going to Montreal for Anticipation. Hi!
I'm Ashe, back for year 4. I returned last year, having been away since 2004.
I've been lurking a lot since I joined. Now I'm packing.
It, uh, appears I never de-dustified my boots from last year.
Everything else is good to go except for my girly-type wear. Ripping and re-sewing (partly) to commence shortly.
In no particular order, I enjoy episodic wind, dust storms, Irish whiskey, finding my way home in IFR conditions, Scrabble, long walks along the trash fence, and moments of surreality. So most of those needs should get met this year.
This is a lovely forum - thank you for hosting it and tending it well.

I'm Poose, a dried-up old Controls Engineer currently living in the Antipodes, but needing to come home (Chicago) and have some fun with "strange" people.
I'm a strong cyclist (longest daily ride 80km), ride motorcycles, love to cook and can live virtually anywhere. I even come with my own accessories!
Into alternate sexuality (mostly hetro, highly tolerant of other's desires and more than wiling to participate), exploration, adventure and science.
I'm a rigger, cook, sysadmin (low level-I view 'puters as a necessarily evil) photographer, mechanic and general all-around hedonist.
Me, in a nutshell?

My name is Alissa (you can call me Liss) and I'm currently signing on from Aomori Prefecture in Japan. I am a military wife and English teacher stationed here with husband and fur-baby, Winrey the feline.
We recently were reassigned to Utah and are very excited that this will be the first opportunity as a couple to possibly attend Burning Man (a dream we've had since before we started dating). I'm excited to meet everyone and become a part of this exciting and overwhelmingly beautiful community. ^_^

Hello Burners. My name is MAN GOOGOO. Last year was my virgin burn and glad to be back for a second journey.
I'm a music artist and will be performing at Center Camp Cafe on Tues. nite at 2am so technically wed. morning.
Come by and say hi if you can. Also, I would love to perform at your camp or wherever I can so let me know. Of course I will perform for free but if you want to trade for some water, food, any artistic creation, a kind handshake or hug, that would be great.
here's my website if you want to hear my music

Have a safe and pleasant burn everyone.

Greetings folks,
My name is Emma and I'm from England. I'll be popping my Burning Man cherry this year and I am so frickin excited as it's fairly a last minute thing! I've been wanting to come to Burning Man for about 5 years now but something always came up. In June I got back to England after travelling for 15mths and the first thing my friend said to me is "You're coming to Burning Man", so there you have it - I'm staying at Terminal Y camp in the Esplanade.
I love travelling, going to festivals and events and exploring my spiritual side. I'm just temping in an office and working part-time in a pub until after the Burn then it's project follow my dreams!
Hello everybody - hope to see some of you there

My name is Tara, and it's my first year at Burning Man. I'm from Seattle, and my friends have gone to Bman every year. Due to my participation in Bumbershoot each year, I was never able to go! After 4 years, I finally got someone to work my Bumbershoot booth so I can go to Bman! Alas, none of my friends got tickets this year! Luckily my boyfriend Eric and I got tickets, and our quest to meet burners going this year is going well. We're so excited! We don't have a camp to go with, but both of us are volunteering with Arctica at Ice Nine, so our camp of 2 will be around the 9:00 area. We're making over our tandem bike into a WWI bi-plane to peddle around the Playa, so look for us and our mini runway in front of our camp. Please reply if you'd like to hang out with us!

Good evening all. I've been browsing this site on and off for this past year, more on than off lately, and have stolen enough of your valuable information that you share so freely that i felt it was high time to join you in eplaya land.
My given name is Tim, this year will be my first burn, and I'm camping with some people I've never met at their Trifucta camp. I'm freaking giddy about the upcoming event, too be quite honest with you. Giddy like a school girl.
T thanks for having me!!

Howdy, Darius here. About to embark on my third burn and just now do I realize the value of ePlaya. I could have been wasting sooo much more time here if I would have only realized this sooner. Alas, all is not lost, still plenty of time to troll around and ask questions without using the search function first
