This gives a whole new meaning to 'Sports Bra'. I made this lovely in the 10 minutes it took to figure it out and cut one piece of fleece to tie it around the bottom. It is/was a kids padded helmet for boxing? Now it's She Ra. Mistress of the playa.

I have some orthopedic equipment I'm working with. A leg brace, back brace and other black devices with lots of velcro & hardware. Scarey stuff.

These nylon nightys and bloomers came out so nice with just some leopard trim. I cut strips of the red leopard and sewed it on ,(gathering it up to be ruffles as I go).

So, the other day, I picked up this satin bed cover (pink and cream) at thrift store for $2.99.
I tore one half of it and made it into a bustle and made it so the bustle can be worn with a belt.

Thanks Ratty, it was one end of the bed cover and I didn't want to waste it :) It really gives option to use belts with varied width.

So, the deal is... I would like to give this bustle away to anyone would like to have it.

I made this so I could try sewing, it's nothing great. I probably would not wear it and I would rather give it to someone who would.
The total width is 53 inches and its really wearable with most belts.
The bustle can be spread out or bunch up in the back as per choice.

That's so generous!! You just reminded me. The lady that 'runs' the kid camp has an all pink camp for herself and other kid campers. I gave her a fluffy pink tutu years ago and now that you've reminded me, I'm gonna make some pink creation for her. I'm following in the footsteps of Wh..sh...Gift, gift, gift.

note to self: (and anyone listening), the P.O. needs postcard stamps, Pimp your Bike needs cloth ribbon fur and spray paint, my old Halloween costumes need to be donated this year, gift, gift, gift.

I like denim. Just added a little fur and a t-shirt piece on the back. 'I have no idea what's going on' seemed fitting at the moment.

If there are no claimers for the bustle, do you think the kids camp lady would like the pink bustle? It might be little too big for kids but can end up being a skirt.

She would love it. I gave her a tutu for her, (not a kid). She is a full bodied woman and loved that I had something in pink to fit her. If you get a chance, wander around in kids camp. It's pretty amazing. They jump on the trampolines all night. I went to their campfire a couple of nights to see 5 and 10 year olds spinning poi with real fire. I love burning man.

This stretchy denim dress is oh so sexy. I made slits up the front and back, fringed them just enough to be interesting and stop any moop. Then I added big buttons. It fits like a glove cause it's stretchy. Now, where's that big gold hat and silk scaves for my wrists.

Y'all are SO creative, these are all lovely.
I unfortunately have no time to sew, no experience, I am awful with making clothes. Desperately attempting to do some clothing recycling in my closet before the Burn. With the ticket at $400 that leaves no budget for new fun things.
I was thinking it would be fun to put cut slits in leggings, flashdance style
I always do a little RIT dying, especially on nylon slips, works great.
Gonna go thru this thread and get some inspiration possibly.
If not, its not the end of the world. I can get by the whole week wearing 3 outfits anyway. Its all about how much fun I am having inside.

Does standard RIT work well on nylon slips, really? Or is it a RIT formulated specifically for synthetics?

I have used RIT a lot, but only ever on natural fibers.

I know there are special dyes for synthetics but I haven't dyed anything in ages. Last thing I did was a wedding dress in blackish green and it was meant to be grotesque so I don't know what the results would be if you were shooting for pretty.

Maybe you could slit a black pair and then wear a neon or brightly colored pair underneath the slit ones - you'd still have some protection from the dust/sun and there would be multiple colors!

Ladies, I don't think I'm going to be able to do my bra workshop at the Burn this year. I just can't get my shit together in time, lol :oops:

I can't begin to tell you how GREAT it was to meet so many 'posters' at the M&G on Thursday. Some of you were a huge surprise. (Gender, age, appearance). Nice to put a face with the names. It was a spectacular burn. Good to be home. Just 355 days to get ready. :shock:

Any tips on getting fake fur cheap? (the very fuzzy kind like on leg warmers) My child wants a cheshire cat costume for halloween and the costumes and material I've been able to find are both very expensive.

Try http://www.distinctivefabric.com, They give free samples & they are burner friendly... Faux Fur Cheap? usually starts at $8.00 yard for the finer nap that is 1/4 inch thick, known as velboa. The thicker naps (very fuzzy kind) shag & feathers fur can run anywhere from $15 to $30 yard. Check out thrift store to possibibly upcycle fur.
