Moderator discretion, open as new topics:
1) A Hippie and a Burner walk into a Bar……
2) What do you get when you cross a Hippie with a Burner?
3) Why did the Hippie/Burner cross the road?

Other than the two cowboy hats and that one weird shirt with the open circle back, it looks like any kiddie rave party held locally on any given week or Cancun at spring break except for the dusty environs in the daytime and the fact that there are a bunch of fossils over 25 years old.

Hippies dissed by a Beatle...
"Hippies are so phoney and fake."
"I'd thought it would be something like King's Road [London], only more. Somehow I expected them all to own their own little shops. I expected them to all be nice and clean and friendly and happy ... (on the contrary, I discovered them to be) hideous, spotty little teenagers."
-George Harrison
From my own personal experience...at protests or rallies in SF or Berkeley, they were always front and center when it came to antagonizing the police..but when the police struck back, they were nowhere to be found! Same with the fucking R.C.P. We did just fine without them, but their cowardice didn't sit well with most of us.

If this video is the definition of "Burner" than I'm not one.

Hippies make funny noises when I run over them(kindy crunchy!)
Burners get the fuck out of the way and then apologize for themselves being in the way to begin with.

Hippy: enjoys Grateful Dead. Attracted by money (ever been hippy fishing with $1 bills? Next year, they have a show on AETV called: 'World's Filthiest Catch)
Raver: remixes Greatful Dead into psytrance or dubstep. Attracted by glow sticks.
Burner: Includes hippies and ravers because of radical inclusion; attracted by snark.
One thing is very rare. The Goth Hippy. After all, have you ever tried to tiedye black on black?

In that case, how do you get a raver off of your porch and off your property?

Re: What is the Difference between Hippy and a Burner?
I rent a room to a gentleman and we discussed Burning Man. He has trimmed hair, young guy, works IT. He was shocked that Burning Man wasn’t open to full blown commerce. He wondered, what if you need something that you neglected to bring? The draconian response to scalping, and hidden passengers rubbed him wrong also, shouldn’t only the one individual be punished, and mildly? I mentioned the eplaya snark, and the rebuffs to vain-glorious ticket wanted posts, and that if a person was unprepared, they were bluntly told so. But, he asked, isn’t there also some examples of fellowship out there? The sense being to him that “fellowship” solely meant what was given, not also what one brings…
I don’t know, what do you think? I think I may be renting to some hippie.

A Hippie can get to the Event.
A Burner can get home from the Event.
