Hitching from Reno Airport: Doable?`
Hitching from Reno Airport: Doable?`
I am having other supplies driven in, and am flying into Reno. I've never been to Reno and never imagined Id be taking this route to get to the burn. I thought it would be fun and interesting to hitch a ride.
Any tips?

Easy. Ride share threads on ePlaya and Reno airport Burning Man info desk. The less baggage, and the less shopping required in Reno, the more you are a golden unicorn. Just work hard to be able to locate your camp coordinates, as far in advance as possible, for your newfound driver friends! Have a plan B, C, D outbound, things get confused on playa.

Don't hitchhike, hook up a ride share on either the main site's rideshare board or the ePlaya Share Resources board. If you only end up with a partial ride, you'd end up on a stretch of highway without either sidewalks or even friendly shoulders in some spots, and most passing vehicles will be more than fully loaded.

yeah.. hitchhiking is illegal in nevada... call it a ride share and youre golden!

Is this a physical thing that is set up at the Reno airport??some seeing eye wrote:Reno airport Burning Man info desk.
I emit a shimmering "neigh" of glory...The less baggage, and the less shopping required in Reno, the more you are a golden unicorn.
As I wont be doing a single drop of shopping, and I was really only planning on bringing my back pack while a comrade drives the rest of my items down.
I do not have camp coordinates, I am vagabond camping on the outskirts (Which is new for me, my two years experience found me in a large camp setting).Just work hard to be able to locate your camp coordinates, as far in advance as possible, for your newfound driver friends!

Okay! I booked my ride to and from the airport!
Now I'll need to find a room in reno to sleep in on the 3rd, my flight leaves the 4th.

Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

If you want peace and quiet, the walk in zone is near the Black Rock International Spaceport (airport) and they are a friendly, cool bunch, with their own bar/lounge, pilots and arrivers by air. They have a pancake breakfast sometime in the week I believe. There have been MV's that make a call out there too. You can get a feel from last year's aerial photo.
