Hello, so it just came to my attention that fresh baked cookies one day late in the week. My camp has everything except the oven, and it is beyond the scope of this burning man for me to construct my own solar oven. I may give it some thought still, as it does sound fun trying to build a solar oven, and its gonna be hot as balls.... but I'd be sharing the cookies either way....
I'm thinking peanut butter cookies, oatmeal walnut, and regular chocolate chip. I'm also thinking that if they get baked during the day, I could warm them up at night with a stove top.. Fresh baked cookies, come on!!
Camping at 5 and Alyssum - not sure how much the dust will impede movement across the playa.

Re: Anyone bringing a solar oven? (want to bake cookies)
I've had campmates bake cookies on the dashboard of the car. If I remember correctly, foil-covered plate (not sure if it was because of reflectivity or some other reason) stuck on the inside dash of the car after breakfast. I want to say we were enjoying the cookies around lunchtime but it was on playa. Time is an illusion, lunchtime doubly so. Keep an eye on 'em, they'll be done in no time.

I made lasagna in a solar oven a few years in a row. Loved it.
For cookies, all you need to do is throw a pan of them on your dash board though. They will cook fine.

Fresh baked cookies?
We're at 4:20 and B and have a proper oven...
Our KITCHEN OVERLORD may be persuaded by the lure of fresh cookies.

You can bake at Black Rock Bakery in the french quarter as long as you bring your own ingredients and leave 1/2 of what you make there
They have two ovens (I think). I'm planning on making gluten-free cupcakes and helping out with some wedding cakes this year. >> http://www.facebook.com/blackrockbakery

You can make a simple solar oven out of a pizza box, foil, plastic wrap and tape. google it.
