Lets see ... that bottle of Jameson's ... that bucket of ice over there, and a glass. And a pint of Courage to swill it down with ... don't worry about that bottle, I haven't had much to eat, it won't take much. Hmmm, let me look in this chafing dish ... okay, I will grab a few of these eggrolls. Wait ... what's up with that plate of brownies over there?

Oh God I keep telling myself watching it is a good American thing to suffer through, but it's so hard.
GW is doing good with the image thing, he's coming off more animated, using an occasional big word correctly, the frustrated just plan Joe persona.
It's frightening!
Is that a loud sucking sound of America going down the tubes?
Oh, Oh, god thanks for turning it off.....

Well, I am leaning more toward atomized liquid at this point. Something with kerosene and diesel injectors and maybe some stream squirts. Someting like a pretty fire fountain is what I have in mind. Oh, here's the bottle ... have at it.
Cooper raised the idea about magnesium today ... that appeals. Sure to attract attention when a bright white light, brighter than the sun lights up. Getting a burn platform that could handle it without digging into the playa will be interesting. Burning silicon had a good design using cement blocks. Using the holes in them as air channels to cool the platform. I need to light some fuel mist off and see how it looks and how it handles wind. Finding the right injectors to use is going to be a problem.

On the Playa I was talking to a guy setting up his mutant vehicle's flame units. He had some other kind of pressurized gas along with the propane, I wish I could remember what it was he said it burned hotter with a brighter more white flame. I want to say it was propylene but I think that’s a fluid.

hell, no, not nuts! Go for it. There needs to be a lot more fire art out there. Freak the yahoos out a little.
Getting aluminum started is hard. Steel wool might be hot enough. The thing is to get it so hot it starts burning, then the iron oxide releases its oxygen ... at that point the fire is impossible to put out by suffocation. You end up with flaming metal and a pool of slag. Toss in a magnesium engine block or two and you have one spectacular piece of fire art.
what eould even be COOLER is to have the entire thing enclosed in a large wood fire. Have some steel channels to take out the slag ... big fire burns down to a pile of embers and then slag pours out of it into molds and the end result is sculpture. Art to art.
