Timing on leaving Reno for the Playa
Prior years we always left a few hours before sunrise on Monday morning. Last year we had early entry so there was no problem getting in - no line. This year we do not have early entry. Since the gate opens at 6pm on Sunday evening we want to leave Sunday afternoon. What would be a good time to leave from Reno to join the line for the Playa and not arrive too early getting us turned back? Would 2pm be too early to depart Reno?
You know it's going to be a bad day when you jump out of bed and miss the floor.

Re: Timing on leaving Reno for the Playa
My general rule of thumb that I've always used with great success is to shove off from metro Reno exactly 3 hours from when you want wheels to hit dust. Works every time +/- 10 minutes.. I swear.
I'm usually timing it to hit gate exactly at open, too. YMMV.

yeah 3 hours sounds better than 4 hours to leave before the gate opens. 4 hours before may but you there a little to early.
Oh my god, it's HUGE!
