No Entry Quotes? + Exodus

Did I miss them or was this the first year that there were no entry quotes (usually on the right-hand side of the road when coming in)? I usually love them, but did not see them.

I'm not sure how the Exodus was for everyone else, but it was only 2 hours on Sunday at Sunset! Thrilled!

Exodus was CRAZY easy. Left Monday around 3pm, there was NO long line and NO pulsing necessary...was on the highway in 45 minutes!

Lot of dickwads causing whiteout by speeding on gate road though.

What helped on Exodus was a smaller than expected population this year and that exodus looked like it began on Thursday. Our MV captain had to make a Fernley run for parts early Thursday AM and there was a solid line of cars heading south on 447 and hundreds more vehicles streaming out down gate road when they made the turn off the pavement.

I'm thinking a whole lot first and second year people expected last year's weather and finally had enough of the dust.

There were a hell of a lot more people that stayed until Tuesday as well. Steady line of traffic down 447 and at the gate; last year I damn near had the road to myself.

The only entry quotes I saw were the 10 Prinicples, not the usual "burma shave" type signs. The road was so damn long that I don't think they could have made enough signs to fill it (I know the reason the road was so damn long, it still seemed endless!)

If Pershing County needs money, can we post them on the side of the road for entrance and exodus? I've seen so many dickheads speeding down and up that line, I'm sure they could get a shitton of revenue through that. I still hate the guy who sped down the road in one of those massive pullout RVs ahead of me at 20mph while honking at me because I was riding at 5. He whited me out and I had to stop for a minute while the dust cleared... and then a truck with a trailer sped by and I was stuck again.

Nope - Gravel to Gate = 10 mph, 5 is suggested as it creates less dust and doesn't mess up the roads as badly.

The population wasn't a lot less than expected, peak was down by only 1.7%. But as has been the trend for the last few years, population peaked on Friday. The temple burn began a little sooner than usual, which also helped out quite a bit.

I didn't see any quotes either, but I arrive early enough and stay late enough that those signs aren't usually up when I'm coming through anyway. If I get a chance, I'll ask about them.

The best entry quote I EVER heard was from a guy at Gate in '08. We had an early-entry to build an art installation, and this gay Latino burner (his accent was funny as hell...think Ricky Ricardo gone 'queen of the hair salon') wearing a blue jumpsuit and with a Conway Twitty hairdo that looked so wrong but perfect for him told us,

"I don' beleef you guyz story, it's so craaaazy, but when it's that nuts itz gotta be true. So, welcome to Black Rock City. Now get the FUCK outta my lane!"

We managed somehow to head down the road despite uproarious laughter. I guess you had to have been there.

Speeding on the way in makes the cars mess up the roads.
Speeding on the way out makes the roads mess up the cars. I've seen broken axles and so many blown tires.
