Man that was a DEAL!!! We paid over $100 for 100 lbs. At least the setup worked perfectly!FIGJAM wrote:Just picked up the dry ice.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Welcome back to Defaultia everyone. I had a wonderful burn! I was faced with a few challenges this year, BUT I MADE IT^ !
At times I was a pickle man, sausage man, and bagel man. Sadly, my turkey, chicken, and pork were ruined. I saw the burns on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. I did not get to visit all the places I wanted to see, but that happens every year. So no biggie. After 7 years, I finally observed the Critical Tits ride, awesome spirit !!!
I loved my little put-put. I saw more stuff, did more things, and was able to give a few rides. I lost only one battery cap off a Coleman lantern due to rutted roads. A passenger kicked open a container water valve and washed down my floorboard, but I helped him carry two conga drums to his music camp. I got tons of hugs from young women, I've got the friendly Grand Papa thing down pat...
What dust storms? I was able to camp under the stars with no tent, just my army cot and a few covers. I shook out the top cover every morning and put it back on during the day.
Love to all who recognized me, and to all I recognized.

We're getting a nice rain storm here today, so I ran out and unrolled my shade tarp to wash off the dust.
Then jumped in the truck and went in search of puddles to run through to wash the undercarridge. WOOT

Injury has postponed the unload/dust-off until today so hubby will have to do most of it while I carefully lend one good hand to the effort. I'm thankful this didn't happen on playa!@

Ouch! Heal up, Em!
I took a toothbrush to the crevices and interior hinges of the vehicle doors and hatch. Less dust for when we take it to the carwash. Handfuls of dust lurking in the doorseals!
Already making packing decisions for next year. We take extra sleeping bags for when it gets really cold, but they are in three places (with our bedding, with our tent toppers, and so on). Next year we will take the bag which holds three sleeping bags, leave it in the topper until/unless needed.
And yes, bringing two extra tents worked out well, because the poor guy across the street had a terrible tent.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
I cleaned the interior of the rental with Armoral wipes and extra Armoral spray. Worked like a freakin' charm! Upon the return, you could not have told that I took the damn thing to the Playa. I was very proud of myself, but it definitely took me 3 hours to do the whole thing (huge quad-cab nissan titan).AntiM wrote:Ouch! Heal up, Em!

But I know who I'm renting from in the future, because they didn't give me any guff whatsoever.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Thanks AntiM...it's really tough doing this work one-handed! Today...the worst task...opening and dumping our black water! URGH!!! gotta find the gas masks first! Got most everything hosted off yesterday, van is unpacked, trailer is mostly. After black water...we can hold off the rest of the clean up until I have both hands.

I finally got all my clothes washed. Now I need to sort through everything and store the stuff that is burning man only gear. I will be sure to document each box so I know where everything is when I am looking for things.

Still confused. Literal neon? the element? or something--whoops, penny dropped, never mind.AntiM wrote:Tops, not Shermans.theCryptofishist wrote:???AntiM wrote:Also neon tanks on clearance, stocked up now.
You said "Tops" and I thought "trading cards".

Re: One Item for BM a Day
My Burning Man point and shoot camera finally bit the dust this year. During the cleaning I destroyed two of the internal lenses. Added an old cell phone to my Burning Man supplies. It has a 2meg camera and I don't care what the dust does to it. It can double as a phone if need be.
You know it's going to be a bad day when you jump out of bed and miss the floor.
Re: One Item for BM a Day
Not for BM but, kind of interesting:
I just removed the rotten carcass of a sea urchin from its shell with a pair of tweezers. Said sea urchin had been sitting in a sealed ice cream bucket full of dried coral, sea stars, and shells for the past FIFTEEN YEARS. After all this time, I now know why my collection has that moldy rotten dead thing smell.
This has got to be one of the oddest and most disgusting things I have ever done.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
I have next year's food list tentatively done. I can do this because I only feed three people, and Genius eats in the commissary a lot. Even if we have the full six expected for next year, maybe seven, I can still preplan because the two other established members bring their own food, and the two new ones would be expected to do the same. No camp meals unless it just happens.
We always bring too much, but it isn't a problem.

I also agree With Auntie, Monday's should be "Stone Soup missed the meet n greet dust off." to be hosted at the largest collection of procrastonaters in one's vicinity.

Aw, thank you! I couldn't tell you were happy to see me; you were tired.
I was really glad to see you (and tired too).
I'm glad I was tired that day . . . if I hadn't been, I would have been braving the heat to get my tent down, but it was just too brutal a chore. Instead, I got to buzz Barbie Death Camp and unexpectedly see you delightful people one more time.
I would have stayed longer but my co-pilot Lydia got antsy and took off without the golf cart, and then I worried about her.
I shouldn't have . . . she found a yellow bike, and got home before I did!

**URK!** Fufa! That's pretty nasty.
We finally faced our black water and poor Mr. almost fainted. We wore respirators but I think the stress of it was simply too much for him. Usually I take care of this myself but being one-handed he had to help.
