Last year for the temple????

Post by Bob A » Mon Oct 04, 2004 9:01 pm

I just caught a line in another thread that implied this was the last year for the temple. It was in the "down in front" thread and the poster said something to the effect of 'didn't know what if anything would replace the temple next year.

Has anyone heard anything regarding this or was this just a random line taken out of context or an assumption that David Best couldn't top this years or keep this up?

I loved the temple and found it very moving and a much different vib than the Man's burn.

The past three years I've attended Burning Man I have heard rumors of Best saying he'd not be doing a temple next year.

Make of the what you will.

David is taking a break this year, or so he has told two of my friends directly and another person has told me as well. It isn't to say there won't BE one. It is pretty much exhausting work and takes literally MONTHS. My understanding is that someone else is in the wings to do it next year and David will be working on something a little different but nevertheless will be there.

And just to give an idea of how many months work it is ... the crew for this years temple started assembling in early March and David had already finished at least the basic design.
