Do you by any chance know if I can leave my car in their lot during the Burn? I'm coming to Reno, meeting up with friends, and either heading in on the 24th or on the 27th after helping some campmates build our art car. If I have a reservation, would they mind if I left my (empty) car there?

I think it would be OK. People can park there anyway without staying. I would park in the covered parking behind the Sands by the swimming pool.

Dr. Pyro, We had a group stay at the Sands last weekend for ArtCar Fest and had a great time there (except for the $$ I lost at the Roulette Wheel!) It was lovely to dip in the pool and the cafe and restaurant were both really convenient. Thanks for letting us get on board the Barbie Death Camp hotel deal! Will we all be in a block of rooms? It was nice being up on the 14th floor...less smoky.

Unfortunately I have no control over that. (What's even more sad is that I don't even receive a commission on each room, bastards.) Last year they had most people together, but from what I understand (and remember, I don't stay there since I live relatively close to BRC) they will put people where they have room. Most have been on the same floor(s), but there's no control over that which I am aware of. We're just trying to save our campmates a few bucks.

I just booked my room for the 4th and got the great $27 rate. Yesterday (before I found this post) I booked a room here for the 25th at a $50 rate. Awesome rates at just the right time sounds like serendipity. Burners are rejoicing! As well as reconvening and first time meeting. Ahh the times of our lives...

YOu might be thinking of the GSR (Grand Sierra Resort). I think they have more of an official afterburn party but lots of burners will also stay at the Sands, so pretty sure there will be partying going on there too.

Hey Doc, Thanks for setting up this deal..We where able to snap up a last minute room Sunday night using the code you provided. It was a blast walking around the casino high fiving other burners, and sitting at our room watching the parking lot fill up with dusty cars. (although the room service blows. On the drive into Reno I was so looking forward to shrimp cocktails, and bloody marys while soaking in the tub at the room, but the room service is from a diner. oh well, all was made up for down on the casino floor)

Room service?!?! DAMN! I didn't even think about that. We walked a few blocks to have Vietnamese and ran into camp mates that we didn't get to say goodbye to though so that worked great for us.

There was nothing wonderful about wandering the casino floor, trying to get to the buffet, being told four different things by four different employees, until the last one telling me that they were going to close in a few minutes. And if I had consulted the book in the room it would have been useless, because the page on access was being revised...

Also, not enough handicapped parking.

Does anyone know how well the Peppermill copes with the disabled?

I wasn't trying to start a bash on the hotel/casino, cause if I was I would've mentioned the bullet hole in the window, the burnt out light bulbs in the room, the blood trail down the hallway and the money taking,no soda vending machine..but I didn't..I am grateful to Doc for setting up the deal.
(watching the hookers get arrested across the street at the Lido Inn was entertaining for bit also)

Our room was nice but we had to switch at midnight because whoever was in the room above us flooded their bathroom, and water was pouring out of the light fixture in our bathroom. I'm kinda curious just what was going on in room 1538 of tower D! The new room wasn't bad either, and we thouroughly enjoyed the outdoor hot tub & pool the next morning.

what night was this? we saw a french kid with a REALLY busted up nose walking around the hotel and sitting out side of the room cause his mates locked him out and wouldnt let him in...
will be staying again. Was fun people watching and met some kick ass burners! cant beat the huge steak and eggs breakfast for $5.38 at mels!
