Morning Shroom, Anti M, YG and any lurkers that may be lurking in the wings. Thanks for the coffee ... needed that. Yeah, Monday in Defaultia and all that goes with that! It was better next year. Falls into the NEB for a pre entry nap.
Have a great day, kiddies. See ya all this evening

Magicmarty, you make pottery in Sausalito? I lived over there for 3 years and worked by Heath. Are you in the ICB? I gotta get back to Sausalito for some punjabi burritos.magicmarty wrote:Hi YG, welcome Gren. Good pic of us, YG, posted by LF on FB. Got most of my playa stuff cleaned and stashed. Haven't decided what to do about my injured tent. 3 out of 5 tent poles destroyed. Got 5 good years out of it, likely time to think about an alternative for 2013. Never too early to start planning for the next burn!
Time to make some pottery
Cheers

Good morning, anyone who's left in here!
(the NEB does look a tad lumpy...
I know you're in here!!)
MMmmmmm.... good coffee!
Yggy~ you forgot the actual laundry!
Maybe you can use the scrub board to bonk some crawdads over the head, for breakfast!
Misa~ I'm sorry I missed seeing you...
did you get the big vinyl 'Burning Man Czech' I brought over?
Defaultia grabbed me by the neck the day I got back.
Home at 6:30am Wednesday, shower, slept to 2pm,
and went to work to 9:40pm.
Worked Thurs., Fri., and Saturday.
Sunday I did manage to half-empty the car,
and used the compressor to blow clouds of dust out of the engine compartment.
Still haven't washed the poor little car.
I'll be off to work here soon today...
and Wednesday is the next day I'm allowed to use water outside.
(We have water restrictions here during the summer...)
Have a WONDERFUL Monday, all!!!

Hi Triken and Gren. Gren, I do have a small pottery studio here in Sausalito. Would love have you come and visit and maybe make a pot or two. Send me a PM and we'll work it out.
Kiss Kiss, Triken, smiles. That is no lump in the NEB, it's me!

In the Bay Area there are a few Indian restaurants that will take your favorite dish and wrap it in nan bread and serve it up burrito-style. My favorite place is on Caledonia Street in Sausalito. I don't even know the name of it (looked it up it's Sartaj India Cafe), but when I lived in Sausalito I would have a few beers at the No Name Bar, head over to the punjabi burrito place and go see a movie.wh..sh wrote:say what?grenadine wrote:punjabi burritos

This is relevant to my interests . . .
My favorite thing to do with some whole grain naan is toast it and spread it with very good hummus (mixed with a little minced garlic), and top it with heaps of peeled, diced cucumbers, diced hothouse tomatoes, & diced red onion. Sprinkle liberally with sea salt and fresh pepper. Enjoy with a glass of wine, if you're so inclined.
(I like Shiraz for this purpose, because I am already playing fast and loose with what is appropriate.)
Oh my God, it's so good.

Good afternoon all! Slept in till 11am today! Felt good! Savannah, your lunch sounds heavenly! I made sauted peppers and onions with galic cloves and zucchini over quinoa yesterday, I have plenty left for lunch today! I'm finally going to storage and put the camping gear away and clean up my little car .*poor dusty girl!* Have a great monday peeps!
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Who would have thought! Punjabi Burrito (I can't say that without laughing) is one of those things that reminds me that I REALLY can't keep up with all that is going on in the world.grenadine wrote:In the Bay Area there are a few Indian restaurants that will take your favorite dish and wrap it in nan bread and serve it up burrito-style. Next time I drive through Sausalito, I want to say my namaste to Sartaj
Sometimes for lunch at school, my mom used to make potatoes (spicy indian style) and wrap it in roti. Sort of like breakfast burritos (inclusive of spices and exclusive of eggs)... yummmmm!

Years (decades) ago in Phx there was a Carribean restaurant owned by a lovely couple from Trinidad. Every Friday they made "Roti", which was Indian-style potatoes & veggies wrapped in roti (and served with "sorrel", which tastes kind of like a hibbiscus punch). Unbelievably good - a mix of Indian, African ad Carribean flavors, and they imported all their peppers & the sorrel flowers from family in Trinidad.wh..sh wrote:Sometimes for lunch at school, my mom used to make potatoes (spicy indian style) and wrap it in roti. I am so hungry now. They're flavors I've never been able to duplicate in SF.

That sounds so good. This is why I LOVE to cook (and talk about food). It's amazing that even after years, people still remember the flavors and how it made them feel. So special!Eric wrote:Years (decades) ago in Phx there was a Carribean restaurant owned by a lovely couple from Trinidad. Another wonderful amalgamation of culture comes from to mix Indian spices to fall specials like butternut squash/pumpkin -
Grab a jar of pre-made Indian curry or make it from scratch. Get a pack of butternut squash ravioli or pumpkin ravioli. These raviolis are very sweet and I have tried them with butter-sage sauce but didn't quite like it. Heat the curry with some shallots and garlic. Cook the ravioli. Use the curry as sauce for ravioli and serve it with fresh bread. OMD! I was surprised how well the spices balanced the sweetness of the ravioli creating amazing flavor!

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
I've gotten really spoiled in the last ten years by all the culinary fusion happening here on the west coast. I thought there was plenty in LA when I lived there, then moved up to SF and found tons more. And then the food truck renaissance happened, and now when I'm too lazy to bother going to a restaurant serving an interesting mix, one will come to my neighborhood. Dammit, now I'm jonesing for a pastrami quesadilla or some other similar nonsense

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
When I first visited Ogden as a teenager there was one place to get Mexican food in town, Taco Time. Even the burritos were fried. Now we have taco carts and a half dozen Mexican markets in addition to great restaurants. We even have Thai and Indian and Japanese places, although the Thai places struggle if there's more than two of them..... not holding my breathe for fusion. SLC might have food trucks, but not quite yet.

*limps in*
aahhh......coffee...........thanks AntiM!!
funny how many places are known for food.
Our little town here was isolated for a long time, in that sense. Now, lots of stuff.
The only real complaint I have about lots of those eateries....is they seem so very expensive, for what seems fairly small portions, of not real expensive ingredients.
