Project: Say It With Feathers

Postby Janet Planet » Sun Sep 09, 2012 11:46 am

Next year I'm going to make Hallmark-style signs for inside the portapots in my neighborhood.
They'll say
Say It With Feathers.....
I didn't read the Preparation Guide
I don't give a fuck if Burning Man ever happens again
MOOP?
I'm entitled to do whatever I want
I'm camped in a gated community. Get away from me, you're all dusty

Then, whenever I see someone walking down my street in feathers, I'm gonna holler out
SAY IT WITH FEATHERS!

Please chime in here, and please steal this idea next year for the portapotties in your neighborhood.

This can work. Just like the blessed Robbidobbs who made the potties her passion and is singlehandedly the person that educated the masses about how to keep the potties nice and the potty crew happy, which keeps the potties nice. I haven't seen the 'mountain of poo' since 2005-although I don't go to 2 or 10 where I hear they are pretty bad still.

jkisha, would you say the same about throwing a beer can and some baby wipes in a potty just because someone told you not to do it?

Uh, OK.

Sometimes sarcasm is lost on the ignorant. You are just as likely to start a 'movement' of rule breakers as you are to embarrass them into compliance.

No, I wouldn't. But I don't happen to think there was anything wrong with feather girl either. I don't have the same opinion on others wearing feathers, I just think she should get a pass.

And since I can't help but think your "project" was incited by her wearing her costume, I don't have much nice to say about it. Though I don't like it when anyone tries to shout or shame anyone else on the playa either, no matter what the reason. I've seen it done just because someone was dressed like a "tourist".

Way too burner than thou sounding to me.

How about a more direct approach?

"Friends don't let friends wear feathers."

(Unless of course they are fine feathered friends.)

The "project" was inspired by picking up a shitload of feathers in my moop bag.
I didn't see that beautiful costume until I got home and looked at the RS story.
It is a beautiful costume.
I just don't want to lose our 2013 permit because of stuff like that.
And it's not the the DPW's job to clean up after her.

Believe me, it won't be that costume that jeopardizes the permit. There are much more agregious acts of MOOP and moopers that you should be worried about instead of wasting your energy bitching about an art piece.

I saw quite a few costumes with feathers... and not a single one on the ground. As stated before, seemed there were far more sources of moop than the feathers, but hey, just my observation.

The most interesting moop I found this year. A red sponge clowns nose, a water bottle with a recipe for hagus printed on it, a bag of pot, a beautiful king's crown, a toga, one stiletto heeled shoe and a skull keychain. I kept the nose.

While I did pick up a few feathers, the most common moop I picked up was fake flowers.

Excellent slogan lucky420. I picked up many feathers out on the playa. I would say the second most picked up were cigarette butts.

Ratty you seem to have found the more interesting things out there.

I go to bed early and find stuff mainly in the wee hours. I would drop off junk at the lost and found on my way back to camp. Some of the 'stuff' I gave to the 30 Israelis camped behind me. International travel had prevented them from bringing some essentials.

Ditto on the fake flowers.

Hmmm... wasn't there a thing? With noses? And potential moop ??? And pages of eplaya discussion?

Can't quite recall. But it sounds familiar.
