One Item for BM a Day (2010-2012)
Re: One Item for BM a Day
A laundry basket of whites and another of coloreds were picked up by health aide to clean today.
Colemans, water jugs, and vehicle washed.
I brought back 7 gal. of water and 5 gal. of gas. I filled up my disabled vehicle only once, and since I did not ride my bike I used less water. I do not need to take my bike and bike stuff next year.
My towing vehicle was repaired, so I am good to go.
My Colemans failed after vehicle was 4 days in the shop, I need to remedy that problem because all my turkey, chicken, and pork went bad. I was so upset at my waterpump failing that I forgot about the perishables.
List of actual food and beverage use made, to be used as grocery list next year.

Washing out all the vac-seal bags. The food they held was all packaged (sweet rolls, cookie dough in packs, wrapped cheeses) so they can be reused if I can get the dust off of them. I have a hanging rack full of wet bags dripping in the bathroom.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
The package I UPS'd to default home arrived today so tonight I get to be all dusty again unpacking my coat, poi, blinkies, and most of all the Crochet Trash Fence. It may take a few days to sort out, but I will post pics once I get it all hung up for those that missed it at VC's camp during the burn.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Probably, but we don't. I was too in the moment to take many pics, and actually almost took one on the first day but decided to wait until it was complete.
It was beautifully dust caked and none too orange looking on the playa though so I'll try to get some pics of it before i shake the rest of it off. I think 20 pounds of that 50 pound carton is probably dust.

Washed the outside of the van. Washed all the dishes and kitchen supplies too. Going to spend the evening watching horrible TV and drinking some beer. Tomorrow morning hitting the laundry mat to wash the sleeping bags and finish packing for a spur of the moment camping trip in the van in Big Sur this weekend. The van is such a sweet camping setup and I feel a need to decompress in the trees. I am going to just pack up and go. Fingers crossed I can get a camping spot and spend Saturday hiking and swimming the gorge at Pfeiffer.

Priced new tent for 2013. The old tent is in a bin in Sparks. RIP old champ.

We used to go every summer. In fact that park is where I first heard of Burning Man many years ago. I wish I could go more often, but at least it's close so I can sneak in a trip here and there. If you are looking for a killer hike, check out Garrapata. Just north of Big Sur. Massive hill, fantastic views, and a cool waterfall at the bottom.

Danibel...not sure if I ever thanked you for the great slaw recipe! It worked great with some Mexican spices for our camp dinner. There wasn't a speck left!

All of the items I could laundry have been laundered and stored in their respective BM bins....all that is left is about 10% that may (or may not) make it to the dry cleaners.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
I don't know about the rest of you but this post-playa clean up is going REALLY SLOWLY. Although there is no excitement attached to it, I'd still like to use this thread as a helpful tool to get something done towards putting it all away each day. Anyone else?
Today: Got fresh indoor/outdoor carpeting and cut a new rug for the inside of our little popup trailer. The old one had been through two visits to BRC and it was worn away. This time I stuck it down with double-stick carpet tape.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
This is the thread that keeps on giving. There are a few out there! Victorian started it in 2010. I wonder where she is. Anyone seen her lately? It will pick up again as everyone gets the dust out. I too am having a hard time cleaning up. I still have bins in the front, but most of my laundry is done. The van needs attention. I have been checking out thrift stores looking for a rug (yes already getting ready for next year!), and now I know to look for double sided carpet tape too!EmilyD wrote:I don't know about the rest of you but this post-playa clean up is going REALLY SLOWLY. And yes! Please on cawfee!

I got my first ticket from Victorian and I don't think she ever made it to the burn!
Check with carpet installers and watch craigs list.
People are always buying new homes and redoing the carpet to change the color.
I get a new piece every year fof the "Pod".

Do you have any way of contacting her? I'd really like to know what happened as well. If you could drop a line saying she's missed and that she started something that continues to have meaning for people in this forum...well, it might be nice for her to know that.FIGJAM wrote:I got my first ticket from Victorian and I don't think she ever made it to the burn!![]()

Re: One Item for BM a Day
danibel, the rug I got is made of recycled soda/water bottles and for synthetic it's surprisingly soft and I was able to cut it with scissors. Not sure if it's thick enough for your needs but it is just enough soft insulation for the floor of our popup. I can tell you (or anyone else who's interested) where I got it if you want in a private message.
