Original Poster control of thread?

I realize this may not pass the sniff test. But my mouth has always tended to runneth over with what my heart is full of, and I'm tired of fighting it.

When I become Emperor of the World, boards such as this will have a new feature: The person who launches a new thread will have the ability to block people from posting on that thread. Like plonking, but proactively, and for the thread itself and the whole thread, not just for himself. Could keep a lot of useless prattle out of sincere discussions.

Darn right! Like I said, this will happen as soon as I crown myself Emperor!

But yeah, it's not realistic. And there are only a very few who consistently post little but drivel. I guess that's the price we pay for having such a fabulous forum where everyone can contribute. Nothing is perfect. (Until I become Emperor.) I withdraw my suggestion. All is wonderful.

I actually hate that idea. Such a regime should be reserved for your own social media site, blog, or website where you can stifle dissent, snark, "off topic" posts, criticism, or anything that does not appeal to your sensibilities.

This is a public, social site and its members should not be carving out their own little niches so they can conduct themselves ex cathedra.
