This year I won't commit to something that starts only an hour after the meet and greet starts.

I had fun, I know Larry enjoyed making shave ice. More ice would be good, folks kept asking for the shave stuff for their drinks.

I completely agree EXCEPT:graidawg wrote: loved the meet n greet Mel was an awesome host, it really could not have been better.
What what what Ratty?!?!?!!! I never even saw a rope so I am sorry, you should not have been kept out, thanks for jumping on in! You (and anybody you want to bring) are TOTALLY WELCOME sheesh after inspiring half the outfits there???????Ratty wrote:Hi, I enjoy talking to everyone here and was kind of puzzled when I got to the meet n greet. Yes, it was roped off. I was on the outside. Everyone I wanted to meet was on the inside. When I finally got in, (around 7:30), lots of people had run off to the core burn. Did I crash the party. I dunno. I thought 1,000 posts about it meant everyone was welcome. Once I jumped the rope I felt welcome and got to meet you-all face to face. It was great!! Being shunned, not so great.

I was perfectly excited to meet Ratty!
Ratty, are you Decompressing hard right now? If so, it's okay . . . but know that people LOVE you (and your inspiring work!)

I had a great time...poor TnT kept trying to leave and then I said just 5 minutes when I spotted BBS. 45 minutes later.....
Next year I will figure out something cool to bring more than 5 minutes before the M&G. And try to keep up with the thread more closer on to the burn, so I know stuff like to bring a plate.
BTW, I think vegemite won. (sorry Emma!)

I'm in if needed.Dr. Pyro wrote:The easiest way to make the M&G a great success again in 2013 is to have Mel (if she'll even do it again) handle the logistics, what she says goes, and if anyone doesn't like it, tough. I recall jkisha bitching last year about the food and the interlopers, and those problems were solved. Not because of me or jkisha, but because Mel kicked ass and took names. We could all learn a lesson on the necessity of an enlightened dictatorship when running something as cat-herding intensive as the M&G. YMMV, but I doubt it.
My only skills are in being a bossy bugger and delegating. It was the eplayans that did the work.

Defend the ribs from those damn pirates from Tuna Camp. One taste turned into a complete rack consumed before I even headed to the M&G.
Or more ribs, if I can figure out a good way to slow-cook them on the propane stove (The rusty wheels of my mind slowly creak into motion - fortunately I have some 11 months to figure it out).

Not quite the same, IMO. Better than no ribs, but for something to bring to the M&G? Fresh off the grill or nothing. Well, maybe not nothing, but not ribs.
Actually, I'm going to work on a method of slow-cooking and smoking them with the propane stove. Heck, I do it on the grill all the time, shouldn't be too difficult to design a suitable rack for the stove. Tin foil boat for the wood chunks, sufficient space for 4 full racks of ribs. Pan of beer to keep things moist. Case of beer to keep me moist for the 4-5 hours of cooking required.
And some help from Apok for booby traps to keep Captain Leisure busy.

i was my own worst enemy! next year i will get the date right, know where you guys are and not volunteer to make dinner for my camp that night
i managed to get there and got to say hello to a few of you, but there were just too many bodies to navigate while trying to read name tags and not step on peoples toes. my short visit was nice tho; had some wonderful coffee vodka thingy....yummy!
i better work on getting a better avatar...............

I have the exact same feeling! Really would like to get to the M&G but as long as it is Thursday night, probably not going to make it. (Well, maybe if I get some sort of on-playa motorized transport I will be able to attend?? ) Everything that day seems to start around the same time. CORE burn, Gate Party, M&G ... oh, the decisionstrilobyte wrote:Hoping it won't be on the same night as the CORE burn, as I'd like to try and go...
Perhaps 2013.

Next time I'll get there when the thing starts rather than 1.5 hours in. Had a great time, but it was a cameo & then I had to ride back to camp. Next year my thursday afternoon is pre-booked! Hope someone enjoyed the Bailey's! I'll bring something more substantial next year, though I won't be able to out do the liquid nitrogen pineapple/liquor ice pops

Vodka Shots at Kantian Apokliptika? a toast.
Drinks at the ePlaya Bar followed my meaningless, mindless sexr? 12 gifting credits.
Coffee at center camp? $2.50
A 6 pack bag of ice at arctica? $15
Camp Dues? $150
Gas to and from the event? $450
Paying a Drama Pony's way to the burn? $1400
Leaving Ygmir speechless??? Priceless!
