Avatar problems
Avatar problems
hello, dearest Emily Sparkle
i'm having trouble getting an Avatar to enter
get a message saying that that the error is with the file size too big (over 6K... it is not). i am sending jpeg
and a bunch of error lines about the headline area..
so i'm wondering if it a problem with the spacing between my name & the/time i joined? is there enough leading in the template? just a hunch that this is the problem, being in the headline area and all.
carry on & i'll get by & it maybe is not meant to be that i have an Avatar. seriously. i could put someones' eye out with that!
love always,
nipples
p.s., i use a mac.

i've tried BMP & JEPG, but my COMPUSERVE GIF is not available for some reason.. it is shown as normal option when saving, but is not highlighted to select from. this is in Adobe Photoshop 4.01, full version.
i feel like a dinosaur! (i was a litho-stripper & for 16 years, & the last three or so were using Dynalite's much hated Nikon 35mm film/slide Coolscan.. but ours worked pretty well. it was for a weekly newspaper chain & print shop. lot's of pics but not much vareity in how i'd have to do them & i'm a dinosaur.
maybe if ask real nice one of 'youse would change it to gif if i send it nearly anything else to you?

file extension
Maybe the server is looking for a .gif or .jpg filename extension -- if you're using a Mac you might not necessarily have that?
Also, I think the image size is limited to 60x60 -- are you inside those limits?

Ok, so this is completely off the thread. I admit I have the stupidest avatar on the Eplaya. In my defense, that little dancing banana cracks my ass up EVERY time I see it. I have it on my desktop at work now so when I have a run in with a jerk I pop it up and watch it for a minute or two and feel way better.
Back on thread. To the Admin here. Please do not let ChickenFish have that avatar back. That thing is just wrong.

Yes,
There are those that believe that all should be and look alike.
When you're not, the uniformed shall ostracize you.
Sounds sort of like highschool, you know, when you did'nt have the same sneakers or outfit.
IMHO indivisuality rocks.

Is this why some other folks' avatars, like ChaiGuy and III for example, that I could see last week, are no longer visible? I thought maybe my computer was screwed up. I just changed my security settings to prompt before running ActiveX controls and plugins (I just nuked that damned Gator/GAIN spyware and don't want it back).
...but it seemed like such a good idea at the time...

Yep, I'm afraid that's our bad. Your system should be fine.
I just can't figure out why it would ony effect some folks avatars, instead of all of them...still looking into it.

some of us haven't bothered, which is why there's a discrepancy.
No, it didn't affect mine, I know, and my "technopatra" login has no special permissions, like "admin" does, so it isn't a user level thing ...(scratching head).
