Improved Video Support & Instagram

Postby trilobyte » Wed Oct 17, 2012 1:32 pm

I've got a couple new changes to the site to tell you about.

Embedding Video
We've improved the way embedding video clips works. Previously, we had separate tags for and [vimeo] clips, and they needed to be formatted in special ways in order to work. For example, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xm7hOuI-ldo would work but http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xm7hOuI-ldo&feature=plcp or http://youtu.be/Xm7hOuI-ldo or other variations that you might see in your browser's address bar would not. Now, it just works. Click the button above, paste the video URL between the tags, and then this:

Code: Select all

Becomes this:

The tag supports Youtube, Vimeo, DailyMotion, and Ustream.

Instagram
ePlaya now supports the embedding of photos from Instagram, via the new [insta] tag. So now instead of just linking to pages like http://instagr.am/p/Q2hMY6GU_E/ or http://instagram.com/p/Q2hMY6GU_E/ you can directly embed the Instagram pic. Click the [insta] button aboce, paste your Instagram URL between the tags, and then this:

Code: Select all
[insta]http://instagr.am/p/Q2hMY6GU_E/[/insta]

Becomes this:

Enjoy!

Will previous video links still work? At least those that worked after the big upgrade?

Yes, embedded videos that were posted using the and [vimeo] tags should still display properly.
