I crowd-sourced a video at Burning Man this year
I was not planning to go to Burning Man this year, so I crowd-sourced a video. Which is a fancy way of saying I distributed a few flip cameras and asked people to being me back some footage. This is what I got back. It's intentionally long, for that full-playa-immersion experience and it'snot a fancy edit. There were some audio issues and "camera operator" things, but I am really happy with the way it turned out. I would do this again (maybe with more participants... if 2's company and 3 is a crowd, 4 is also a crowd but maybe 13 in 2013....)

I enjoyed it! Most Burning Man videos (in fact most Burning Man feature-length films) are chaotic assemblages of jump cuts making the event appear to be utterly incoherent and continuously frantic. This was a nice mix of some quick sights and sounds with longer shots that were more patient and exploratory and atmospheric. Very cool. But you didn't explain how you ended up in BRC after all. I reckon you got there late in the week, since your friends were talking to you on video as if you weren't there?
Ain't it a groove?

I think it's funny that I spend so much effort out there trying not to be photographed or videoed, but when I get home, I immediately look for my self and my stuff in everyone else's photos.
Thanks for the cool video (and I didn't find myself.)

You've got some good friends that would take so much video for you
. Thx. Enjoyed very much.

There is a lot to be said for leaving the audio "as is". Stripping out the ambient audio for some banging dance track (and I do that myself a lot) does strip a lot of the ambience out....Timezone LaFontaine wrote:I enjoyed it! I was not planning to go this year for "family reasons" and my resolve cracked some time on Thursday afternoon after several days of live-stream on my monitor at work and a flurry of tickets wanted/available notices on a mailing list. I *barely* managed to get hold of a ticket on Thursday night, left on Friday morning and spent 24 hours on playa. You can see how that worked out below. I found 2 of the 4 people who had cameras for me (and did most of the filming), obviously all of this was filmed before I turned up.
Here's my 24 hour trip....

I'm going to Burning Man for the first time this year, and whenever I watch a video I keep reminding myself that it's not a rave...

It's really not. There are raves nightly on the playa, but they're just parts of a larger whole.bad-and-ugly wrote:I'm going to Burning Man for the first time this year, and whenever I watch a video I keep reminding myself that it's not a rave...

This is my first year going and I LOVED your video! I would totally volunteer to be part of the 'maybe 13 in 2013' if you're looking!MisterSaunders wrote: I would do this again (maybe with more participants... if 2's company and 3 is a crowd, 4 is also a crowd but maybe 13 in 2013....)

This is an excellent video. Plus, you have nice teeth.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?
