I'm hearing that in New York City, the electric lines are mostly below the surface (unlike my 21st century city). So they are less likely to lose power as the wind (60 mph) picks up.

we're actually expecting a storm surge on Lake Ontario of about 5ft as the winds come from the North later tonight

currently under a state of emergency.

Ho, da Bar!

I would like a Dark & Stormy, please, it's been a long day.

(((Knowmad))), I love you, but if y'all have lots of storms like this where you are, I pity your EMS. We are pretty much shut down here. Makes my job easier :? and harder.

And we have water coming in around a window, but, we also have power heat internet booze AND food, so, I am not complaining.

Another drink would be nice, though!

Addis just tried that, and from what I heard the aroma of his bowels exploding and arcing in Embarcadero Station did not quite resemble that of the latest popular third-world food truck.

Still with power here, the internet drops out now and then, no biggie. The muck tub I set out is half full, that's a lot of rain. We have half an inch of sleet adding some white to the mix. If the temps drop any more things might just get entertaining. I "baked" a loaf of pumpkin bread in my Coleman slow cooker using the steam bath technique, and getting ready to start a pot of stew. My company shut down a bunch of plants including the one across town from mine, but mine is still planning work. Though I checked up on it and saw all the lines were Press Down/No Crew. I checked my schedule and they've already put me on shift, fuckers. Pretty sure one of the roads out of here is under water. Not sure about the other one. Might take a refreshing walk up to the driveway with a good light and see what things look like.
I have discovered the ultimate question to life the universe and everything. "Does it burn?"

Hey MDF, Thor and other of you east coasters. Just saw a special report on CBS on the storm and it seems simply dreadful. So much under water in NJ and NYC. Hope you are all ok and your power stays on and things settle down very soon. Our thoughts are with you! ((()))

We got hit with a pretty good swat from that hurricane in Boston. Lots of tress down and lost power at 6:00 last night. Not nearly as bad as NY and NJ got hit. It was funny to see every store shelf clear of batteries and flashlights. Don't people own these things anyway?
I'm just glad I stocked up on bread and milk for the occasion. (what the fuck is that all about?) Give me a good bottle of scotch and I can weather the storm.
