I design and optimize wireless telephone networks for a living.

Cellphone jammers (intentional or accidental) kinda fuck my day. I can roughly "see" when people use them on my network in my statistical information. If they're persistant transmissions, I have the gear and knowledge to pinpoint them. The FCC won't come and find them. I will. Then I'll tell the FCC where they can find them. Whatever your complaints are about the political actions of the FCC, they respond pretty quickly when license holders have proof of willful signal interference.

Knowmad, you made the distinction of jamming a rude person versus jamming a phone tower. Your jammer, and radio waves don't make those distinctions.

Also keep in mind, you'll be doing what that person in the restaurant is doing at a much higher frequency. He's blasting a bunch of noise, so people can't enjoy themselves at around 0 to 4000 hertz. You'll be blasting a bunch of noise up around 1900MHz in a wide band, so that other people can't enjoy themselves however they so choose. Why do you get to be the same kind of jerk, but at a higher pitch?

In general, I can't support technological fixes for people problems.

If I light up my Jammer for about 2-5 seconds while some Overbearing "Friend" is doing the "Bla-Bla", I'm pretty sure that your system will recover. There's will probly lose signal, that was the point.

I do respect the Structure of Com-Chanel, and those that work to hold them open. I also believe I have a right and an abillity to make someone STFU.
