Hi BVB, glad you'll be in the dust this year! Woosh, watch that watch and get your lovely bottom in gear for the Playa. Supposed to be a big storm through the weekend, YG, so batten down the hatches. Yay, for Loofa Loofa.

Hi GD!!
I gotta scurry about, hoping to get things together to set a monument in concrete before the weather gets rainy.
Dang people and their deadlines.
well, never let it be said if I promise it'll be done, I won't do my best to make it so..........
wish me luck.

Good morning Everyone
still thinking about yesterday when my Austrian son-in law became an American with 1256 people from 107 countries at the Paramount Theatre
There were photos of people like my parents getting in to Ellis Island in the 30's
it was a memorable time.
now what to do ..face the storm seems best
xoA.

hey GD.
I'd always find something for you......My problem is my business is low volume/high profit. So unless I increased volume, I'd have a hard time keeping you busy.
Hi asd!!
congrats on the new American!! yay, for "doing it right"!
yeah, I'm waiting on my helper, hoping he gets here before the rain...........

Congrats on your son in law becoming a citizen, ASD! Happy day. Good luck in the rain, YG. It started here about two hours ago and is supposed to go on till Sunday night or Monday morning. Good news, it is also raining on our favorite desert as well. Grai, good to see your spirits are up. Wish I had work for you here in the SF Bay Area.

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
It's rather unfortunate that India does not allow dual citizenship
It would have made for a easy peasy decision.
When its time for me to think about citizenships, it's going to be a very difficult emotional decision for me to give up my Indian citizenship (even though it won't change much about my life).

I know a few people who have dual citizenships with countries that don't know about it.wh..sh wrote:It's rather unfortunate that India does not allow dual citizenshipIt would have made for a easy peasy decision.

Yes, that part of the vow was really tense to listen to as each applicant forswore their homeland
Definitely I know now that I shall not apply for the dual as my children think I should ..I remain only American to the end.
And the dear man who spoke to everyone using various languages with excellent dialect and gestures was deserving of gratitude
not so the ditzy woman who slowed her speech in order to reach the lesser folk she thought she was speaking to
My God I do love my country !

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
India may not have a way of knowing that you have US citizenship. It apparently works for other countries (such as Japan), not sure about yours.

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
My mother became a Fiji citizen. She had to sign in Fiji, that she renounced her U.S. citizenship. U.S. just didn't recognize it. Not a problem. She held two passports. I think I'd have a hard time having a written statement on record somewhere, but... it did help me to get Fiji residency for a time. It made it so much easier to have a home and a business with her being a citizen. She really felt she belonged there too, so it wasn't only for convenience. Now, that would be a swell place to camp, since the jungle, and bees, pretty much reclaimed the house.
It's wet here, not raining at the moment. Sometimes I miss having a metal roof, you never had to look out to see if it was raining. I have the day off and am taking it slow, but Grai, you are right, once the computer is turned on, it's a lost morning.
Hey!!!! we got a coffee emoticon?!!! Somebody did some sweet work there. Trilo? Here's to you all!

Yeah, of course. Even if I can't hold Indian Passport, I can get something called as "Person of Indian Origin" card that would give me few of my rights, like to visit India without a visa and so on.Ugly Dougly wrote:India may not have a way of knowing that you have US citizenship.
My primary concern is this -
I don't know if I can ever get up on a stage an forswore my country. Even though holding a US passport has lot of perks, I just can't seem to get my head around ever having to do this!aserendipity wrote:Yes, that part of the vow was really tense to listen to as each applicant forswore their homeland.

And I do agree and spent time discussing this with family as it seems almost unethical ;but then my son -in law says his country recognized the issue.
Also want to add a rejoinder to my experience. I have today signed up as a volunteer teacher for adult language learners. After my favorite young former student from Yemen told me that 9/11 had to happen because".. those people did not believe in Allah", I stopped wanting to teach at all because it indicated to me that learning may be based more heavily on culture than on knowledge.
Yesterday amended that in my mind.

*slogs in, muddy, wet, tired*
any coffee left?
Hi gang!! dang, setting a 300 lb. stone, in general by my self is not a super big deal (no helper today, he didn't want to get wet), but, add pouring rain, wind, mud and slippery leaves, along with mixing and getting somewhat of a finish on the concrete, after digging a footing, and it was a challenge!!
I almost got to post in the "sometimes your lucky thread", but, I caught everything just before it slide off the side of the ramp and fell on me......so all is good!!
*checks to see if hot tub is warm*
