I'll second Grai's suggestion of glue. I slit my finger while on the playa - superglue was a great trick for holding the skin together in a place that gets a lot of wear, like the thumb.

Four things I learned from the experience:
1) Dull pocket knives are more unsafe than sharp ones. I'd heard it a million times but I never learned until it was first-hand experience.
2) Superglue > bandaid in terms of durability. Also, possibly more toxic.
3) Not even a superglue patch job will hold up a round to Super Street Fire.
4) Sometimes, it's okay to just go to the med tent. Like when bandaids and back-up plans fail because commanding fire using a pair of powergloves is more important than avoiding subsequent pain and disruption of healing wounds.

Yep, the medical version of skin glue is skin-safe as well as antiseptic (at least, the brand I use).

No clue as to household/worksite Superglue's antiseptic properties (it'll hold skin closed, but they didn't necessarily design it to be antiseptic). And I'd not let two people use the same bottle of superglue on their respective wounds, just in case it isn't.

Liquid bandage is the best. If you injure yourself on rebar, for example, your skin will likely separate from the basal layer and even if you put a band-aid on it, the wound will fill with playa dust and cause pain. Strongly recommended.
