LondonBRC Project
Hey all, Doof here, Tortured Artist for the new art project for Burning Man 2013 called LondonBRC.
We, The En!gma Crew, are going to bring three structures to the playa representing a London skyline in all its glory.
The installation will comprise of Houses of Parliament, Tower Bridge and The Tower of London. Each structure will be four stories high and completely interactive. Inside there will be a medieval ale house, working house of commons for planned and open discussion forums, art rooms specific to the london theme, a theatrical dungeon exploring the tower of London's darker side, a theatrical brothel, cinema/theatre for performance art and classic black and white english films a history/library room with historical facts concerning the structures and the build a fully functional Tower Bridge lifting at specific times of the day to allow art cars through, Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben) dominating the playa horizon, secrets within the structure will be revealed throughout the burning man week and so much more.
The piece will be big, interactive, fun and yours to play with.
We are excited to share this with you all and offer a unique piece to the long history of extraordinary art that we all have had the pleasure to witness on the playa over the years.
Please get excited with us, ask us questions, join in, help in any way you can and help us build explore this very special concept to a truly wonderful environment.

Re: LondonBRC Project
Hi everyone, Tillman here, lead project coordinator for LondonBRC.
Thanks for the great responses.
AntiM-- How deep do you recon we can dig in the playa
RedHeaven-- We hope we can be one of the many reasons you reconsider and join this year.
Lucky420-- So are we. Insanely.
Bob-- Yes, and no.
Some quick updates-- drop by our Facebook page and say hi. We're beginning to post updates there. Follow us on Twitter as well for our stream-of-conscious musings.
We're planning to be at SF, Reno, and London decomps. If you're going, we'd love to meet you and tell you a bit more about the project. For anyone who may be interested in pitching in we're going to be posting information about needed resources on Spark, and be providing more info here as things develop. Or feel free to email us or send us a PM.
Cheers!

Re: LondonBRC Project
This looks like it will be spectacular! I hope it comes together as expected. Do you intend to burn it at the end of the week? Either way, it will be a great addition to the burn.. Woohoo!!

I can't wait to see the London skyline on the playa. It is so cool to see ideas spawned on eplaya to actually come to fruition.

Here's a snap from our project video shoot earlier this week on the playa. It was nice to not have to wait in line, but it was lonelier without 50,000+ of our friends.

Re: LondonBRC Project
We've had discussions with IAM about the project. It's true- they have experience with big, and have an international crew, including in the UK.dubovitch wrote:great project.

Re: LondonBRC Project
Insanely ambitious but since you're going for gold anyway please consider wheelchair access to, if not all, aspects of or a route through the installation.
London, having lived there, is also interesting in terms of sounds; Tolling of Big Ben, Tube noises (accompanied by whoosh of air), market vendors, southern accents - adds another dimension
You could go all Jorvik on it too but the smell of shit and fumes get's boring quickly!
As glad I am to have left London will really look forward to this - need help (albeit limited and from Melbourne)?

I don't remember seeing this last year. Does anyone know if they made it?

Re: LondonBRC Project
I don't believe so, no. LondonBRC was pretty active and excited early on, and even got some press coverage (an old Daily Mail article from early 2013 has been making the rounds on FB today), but it never made it to the playa. Well, never's a strong word...let's just say it hasn't made it to the playa yet (though I haven't heard anything about it being attempted for this year).
