What did Santa bring you?
I'll start off by saying how grateful I am, to be once again employed, to have a roof over my head and the means to accomplish my dreams.
That said..
I got a fucking Miter Saw for X-mas!
I also got a Lorica Segmentata, to accent my Galea....much to graidawgs dismay...why!?
I got new contacts! So I could see the end of the world...which never happened..(early xmas present)
I didn't get the Tiger Tank I was hoping for, but the next best thing! A Leatherman!
I/We also got a ton of new playa gear.

Re: What did Santa bring you?
I found $8 on the sidewalk tonight! A five and three ones. On State St. in Santa Barbara, CA. At first I thought I was hallucinating but then I remembered the elusive ways of Santa's magic. I ended up giving the five dollars it to a homeless USMC veteran so he could experience Santa's magic too. I was disheartened when he proclaimed "great, now I can buy a pack of cigarettes!" but oh well, I hope has a great Christmas.

I got a box of liquer choccies for xmas. Tom i would explain that as british celt i see the romans as responsible for destroying a society that valued people above things, placed women equal to men, new the value of nature and believed in equal trade and replaced it with, well capatalism, the subjugation of women and lifetime slavery.
Ok the romans brought a few good things to the world but at what expense?

Not my place to judge the morals of 1500+ years ago. I could easily be pissed at our forefathers, for what they did to Native Americans...but what would it solve? Ill reserve my anger towards someone living.
Happy Saturnalia!

With an attitude like that, no wonder you got nothing. If you drop the tude and don't use the word imaginary, maybe you'll find dozens of wrapped gifts under your tree next year. Also, you may have been naughty!theCryptofishist wrote:Oddly enough the imaginary man brought me nothing.

I realize this is not the "Suicidal Tendencies" but, especially since Scott was killed on the December 17 (or was it 18, don't try and find out for sure, I think I can't remember as a defense) it just try and put my head down and get through.
Actually, in some sad way, the burn itself and the boards are my social life and connection to the wider world... I'm trying to change that.
If I say I got a stress ball in the shape of a London double decker bus, can we end my participation in this thread on a high note?

Re: What did Santa bring you?
This time of year can be a brutal time of reflection. Friends and loved ones gone, decision and regrets that can't be changed.
I always just try to get to January with my head down, but it's difficult with so much media attention based on bright, shiny, happy people all having the perfect Christmas.
My perfect Christmas day is sleeping in with the shades pulled.
Fishy, January is right around the corner AND we have passed the winter solstice, so the day are getting longer too.
Happy New Year!!!!

Santa brought me a wicked F*cking hangover!!!!
He was supposed to drink the whiskey and cookies left by the fireplace, so I didn't have to!
He also, brought snow! And, a good bit of it, starting late Monday night. There is something very special and magical about snow on Christmas morning!

Re: What did Santa bring you?
My honey surprised me with my BM ticket!!!!!!!!!!!
She hated the way I was tormented for six months last year and, after hearing I would wait for the main sale to save some $$$, she got me one! I am not ashamed of my reaction, but really happy it was not recorded.
I am soooo relieved...now I can plan a camp I can be proud of!

Re: What did Santa bring you?
I'll catch it and throw it back, you do know the romans were expressly forbidden to fight the celts one on one dont you. Romans won because they fought as unit, individually the celts could massacre them. its why the romans had short swords - which they stabbed with the celt longsword needed about 6ft of space around it to avoid accidently chopping your collegues limbs off.
I actually did a battle once (with other celts) against a roman legion who used roman tactics, every time we split them we won, if they managed to stay as a unit they won. you see the roman were soldiers but the celts were warriors. also all that armor Really slows you down, the scene in life of brian with the unarmored guy just running away until the heavily armored guy just collapses is pretty accurate.

Re: What did Santa bring you?
That settles it. I always thought "The Life of Brian" was never taken out of historical context. I see now I was right.
Re: What did Santa bring you?
i had the worst xmas in memory: all the kids and some adults were sick! so everybody stayed sequestered in their own homes so as not to bring germs to grandpa and gramma who can ill afford to get sick. grandpa went to bed early...so it was just gramma watching murder mysteries. grandpa got up and one time and saw her sitting there alone after all her weeks of shopping/preparation and he said he shed a tear.
so the gift of watching joyous children and family was missing.
