haha yeah hot.......well, I'd see it "dense" but dang. It was sort of funny, I wish someone had been there to see.
I was cutting along, it was a particularly hard task, so, straining my whole body anyway, and the associated pain, I noted the heat, but, thought: " dang, I'm going to have to set this down soon, my whole side is not only in pain, but getting hot".

Ha! when I set the big saw down, I turned to my left and sort of saw out of the corner of my eye, flames licking up under my arm.
YIKES!!!
I I knew I had a cotton tshirt, but under that was a sweatshirt, that might be rayon or something. and my flannel shirt was the one on fire. Knowing I don't want rayon (possible) burning next to my skin, I moved with all haste to extinguish said flames. Which consisted of beating the flame barehanded and then running over and pressing against the shop wall.

Worked great!

Morning lovelies!

Got a little more snow here last night. It hasn't melted yet as daytime temps are hovering around 35 degrees.

Off to look at new cars this a.m. Still haven't gotten the police report from the cops yet regarding my smashed car. So it just still sits in front of the house all broken and sad looking.

Yggy=burning man.

hi all, Ellorum that is an amazing view.

today i am sitting thinking i wish i hadnt gone drinking yesterday i spent far far to much money and have decided to not go out drinking for at least another month. I shall prolly buy some new devil sticks and try to find a local juggling club (thats got to be cheaper right?)

also i am trying to work out how to make a collapable contact staff which i can make into an led staff. sadly i am not clever enough to work out how. on my frequent trips into our local diy stores they dont seem to have threaded rod and tube of a similar size, any suggestions anyone?

oh yggi? i think you need a spotter everytime you go near something capable of producing fire or bleeding you seem to have a major habit of setting yourself on fire or attempting self amputation of various limbs

Hey Elorrum!
I had not realized how nice it was down there, until clearing the 6' high brush. Love the tent!
That spot I made with my tractor, thinking it'd maybe be the best one or two person spot, and a little above the damp ground (early in the year, the lower area there is moist). You have "the eye".
Great fire photo, too.....looks like morning? Dougly looks like he's about to fall out of his chair, Piney looks contemplative, and TITWI and Killbuck look like trophies sitting on the mantle......or vultures on a limb, I guess........hahaha
Can't wait to do it again this summer!!

You have rights, but you gotta usually "press" for them. If you need help, let me know. I learned from my cousin, who was an agent for AAA for years, and showed my how "they" work.

yggi, i'm just thinking a staff about 5 or 6 ft long that breaks down into say 3 parts so i can carry it through customs (or just generally) with some sort of lights on it along the length, i've not seen anything like what i want except in plastic, which is nice but will break if dropped as often as i drop my staff and is damn expensive to buy.

Yggy, I don't even have the other drivers insurance info yet. Called the deputy for it in Thursday and haven't heard back from him yet. The clerk told me it hasn't been signed off for release yet. I just have bare bones liability in mine...I may be screwed.

On a happier note the frame could make a great art car base. It's a 98 eclipse

do you know if the other driver has insurance?
are you sure you don't have "uninsured motorist" or "no fault" on your policy? sometimes they're there, but not obvious. And you can't count on your insurance company, to tell you they'll pay.......they don't want to.
Was the other driver arrested? or ticketed? Sorry, I forget.
There is a thing here in CA, maybe there, too, related to victims of crime, where, if you are a victim and, lose a substantial amount of money, there is a fund to help with stuff.

GD:
could you get a sort of "tent pole" configuration, where one end slips inside the other, and maybe twist locks or has a small screw/keeper? being hollow, you could then drill holes along it, and put a light source inside.

I think I remember a Soviet military machine like that, for going over the muskeg and permafrost of Siberia. Cool idea, until you hit hard surfaces I'd imagine.

Like you thought elorrum it turns like a tank, slow/reverse the side you want to turn towards. Grai, how heavy of a pole do you want? are you trying to get it through as a carry on or in your checked luggage? wont light up, but how about an extendable leg from a broken camera tripod? they make some of those really strong for heavy cameras. Scratch that, it would have no ballance. Ill have to keep thinking

I'm thinking something that screws together, that seems like the easiest option - having said that of course i can't find anything that will take an m8 thread. yggi the idea of drilling holes so the light can shine through is about where i had got to, though the pipe one on the link i put up does have a good system except the joints the guy made himself.

it needs to be balanced so i can spin it, if ti was a walking staff (only) it would be lot easier - though i can spin an unbalanced staff (used to do a lot of spear work) it is easier if it's at least semi balanced, and it would be good if it can be broken into pieces so i can get it through customs easily

yeah GD, the make wood insert/threaded bolt/sockets. you could get some really beautiful wood, turn it, and then put those at each joint.
then, cut a groove, or grooves, length wise put E.L. wire (or similar) in, hollow the one end for the batteries/controller. no, wait!
they make (and I have a bunch) small led blinkies, with watch type batteries in all sorts of colors and such,
maybe 3/8' dia, about 1/2 to 3/4 inch long.
you could drill holes along the staff and insert those. then just screw in the top to turn them on and off. You could place them along the staff in a balanced configuration.

Maybe not what you looking for.

6' stick of 3/4" pvc and 2 connectors.

Might be a struggle to pull back apart even if they are not glued.

Battery glow sticks jam snuggly into each end.

I like the idea of small through holes with small batteries and led's.. pinch together, cap with something clear.... or hey, these strips?

I got a set of these solar garden lights on clearance on Friday believe it or not. solid plastic with bubbles injected before hardening I guess.... led lights hey presto!

trilo, might have to shunt us off to a led spinning staff subject header.
