dang that feels good!
got the granite floor inside the Hofstove today, and the firebrick liner along thew lower part of the walls.
Door gaskets installed. I'm about ready to cut the hole for the exhaust, and try it's first, small "tempering/annealing fire".

Re: The Bar, Volume #4

ypu its working well. nowhere near as tired as i though after not sleeping as much as i would like. it seems my "sleep anywhere, anytime" ability just isnt as good as it used to be its sometimes taking me as much as 5 or 6 minutes to get to sleep lately.
annealing is one of my favorite words, its the method by which modern glass is treated prior to sale to reduce its brittleness, part of the "float" process which was invented by Mr Pilkington creating the smooth strong glass we know today. alas Pilkington glass was sold to last year to, i believe the Chinese and now it is manufactured abroad in Poland. although don't quite me on that for accuracy it is after all very early and i have only had one

Good monrning Triken, nice to see you this early

Good morning, Grai!!
'Early' is all relative, you know...
I still have to sleep before work Wednesday. It's just about midnight here now.
I've set up my coffee for morning, and hope to have an easy day and short week of work.
Sounds like you're about ready for another
!
Don't work too hard!

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
I'm gritting my teeth on a nicotine lozenge right now. Have a quit buddy, so that is helping. And I did get through 3 hours at Macy's returning my 'perfect playa boots' that had a broken zipper to get something not quite as perfect (nearly every boot in my size was sold out, at least anything I could afford to take to the playa that fit all the necessary specs for my perfect playa boot).
The ones I ended up with we're more expensive and harder to clean. But comfy, with zippers, low heel, and cute enough for everyday wear.

*wanders in pours coffee* Thanks GD!!
be well AntiM. hope you get better fast.
yeah GD, annealing is a cool process. We also use in in cartridge reloading, for the brass case neck, if you're going to re-size it, or often, for more life before cracking.

Best wishes to those making habit adjustments. Nicotine lozenges were my helper two years ago. Cravings do abate and lessen in frequency. If at first you don't fricassee, fry fry a hen.

annealing applies to more glasses than float. Fused and blown glasses are also annealed. I've seen a documentary on a new telescope mirror made from boro-sillicate glass (using a new technique that I won't go into here) that was annealed for three months.

Yay, Della. Hope we get to see you in the dust in August!
Seems like Monday today and the good news is that it is actually Humpday.
Had a wonderful day celebrating the New Year with fresh BBQed oysters in Marshall, a little town on Tomales Bay in west Marin County. Weather was exquisite as were the oysters and fresh clam chowder. Topped off with some wine and garlic bread, what a great way to start the new year! Gotta go back there!
Cheers

Glad for you, delle.

Since it's essentially high-grade Pyrex, you're cooking now.

Enjoying a mocha here
I got up way too early. Still feeling dodgy, but I'm determined to try and get some things done today around the loft and with storage.
