Will you continue to play the same 80's CD over an over and over again both day and night?

80s Pop Hits & Videos
Not sure what camp you're confusing us with, first we've never even been on during the day (although we will be in 2013 with our new configuration), second, those genre's are about as far from each other as you can get, unless you somehow confuse Def Leppard with Bauhaus with Michael Jackson with C&C Music Factory with Depeche Mode.

Adding to my list of places to attempt to visit this burn... I'm going to try really hard, but I have the attention span of a squirrel on playa.

Re: The Return of Planet Earth!
To Planet Earth - welcome back.
Thanks to you, I had a serendipitous moment in BRC in 2010. I call such things 'playadipity'.
It was minor, really, but worth of note. My friends Rune and Leo were entrusted with me in handling the LNT for our camp. It looked like it could have been a big job. I told them about the movie "The Replacements' and how the football team came together for the first time AS A TEAM in a jail holding cell, where it could have been a big pain. They started dancing the electric slide to the old 80's disco tune by Gloria Gaynor, "I Will Survive".
What we thought would have been a multi-hour job ended up taking 20 minutes because we worked together as a team. We said our goodbyes for 2010, and then they hopped in their RV and departed. As I stood there waving, Planet Earth put a tune on.....Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive".
I could do nothing else but dance the electric slide in the playa dust.
Thanks, Planet Earth, for the memories.

Re: The Return of Planet Earth!
A little update on Planet Earth 2013....
This year we're bringing it inside. We're going from an open air/outdoor dance camp to an indoor club, complete with bar, a real wood dance floor, etc. If you've ever been to the Cat Club in San Francisco, that's the look we're going for

We'll also be hosting two themes per night. an early theme from 8pm to midnight, and a late theme from midnight to 4am, sunday open to sunday temple burn.
Our themes will cover a lot of genre's: 80s New Wave, 80s Pop, Dark Wave, Goth/Industrial, Heavy Metal, 90s Dance, 70s Disco, & Britpop. We're also having a few act specific theme nights focusing on; New Order, Depeche Mode, Michael Jackson, Duran Duran, Prince & a few others.
It's coming together, we're getting organized and looking forward to being on the playa with you guys next summer!

I truly MUST know.....any Southern fried rock for us die hard redneck types who love fishing, cornbread, and barbecue? And If you do, are you in need of DJ? Finding one could be more frustrating than a woodpecker in a petrified forest........
Oh, heck, if the gig is right, I'd even be tempted to put on a 'Lizard Lick Towing' T-shirt........

Re: The Return of Planet Earth!
Wouldn't a southern-fried rock thing be the polar opposite of an 80's dance club? There's no shortage of interest in any style of music out there, it's generally a lack of ambition on the part of the people who want to play it (in short: if you want to have a place to play it, build it)
Re: The Return of Planet Earth!
Hey Rhino,
I'm afraid Southern Fried Rock isn't really what we do. I suppose the closest we come to that will be our "Head Bangers Ball" on Tuesday night, but thats not really Southern Rock, more like 80s hair band rock.
Most of the time though we play a lot of New Wave, Synth, Dark Wave, & 80s Pop.

Re: The Return of Planet Earth!
Patamon, thanks for the answer.
Just so long as you don't play anything 'alternative'.
I used to remind a pain-in-the-ass co-worker who was gaga over so-called 'alternative music' that the only alternative to music is silence, thus it's not very aptly named. He never learned reality. He thought Jimi Hendrix was "primitive".
Yeah. Right. Whatever. The closest he ever came to understanding reality was when he spun out on a curve south of town in rainy conditions. He was "only" doing 70 and started to hydroplane, and thought that he could 'power out' of the spin by stepping on the gas. Duh. The car was totaled.

Re: The Return of Planet Earth!

Planet Earth 2013 camp membership is now open!
Planet Earth will be returning to the playa in 2013 after taking last year off with our new indoor nightclub design. Complete with hardwood dance floor and a new bar/lounge area.
We'll be rocking it every night with two themes (8pm to midnight and midnight to 4am) playing all the top New Wave, Pop, Goth, Dark Wave, Industrial and Synth hits and videos from the 80s (mixed in with a 70s night and a 90s night).
If you're a fan of 80s music, and being part of an indoor nightclub on the playa sounds like something you might be interested in, now is the time to get involved! We're taking new members until the end of May, after that we're locking it down.
If you're interested, send me an email on here, or at : [email protected], or hit me up on facebook (Porter Venn). We're looking for all types of people who might be interesting in being involved, everything from bartenders to 80s DJ's to people who might be interested in carpentry and being part of the early arrival team.
