Re: Burning Man 2013 Tickets Info
Remark - fyi, the limit of 2 per person is not a change from 2012. Perhaps one of the other two individuals you're purchasing tickets for is able to register and purchase one of the tickets in their own name? You can either give them the money for it outright, or get a pre-paid debit mc/visa in their name.
alex_ - if you're going to skip multiple years to make your sense of outrage feel even more justified, go back to the late 90's. How dare they?!?!?! The increase from 2012 to 2013 represents an increase of less than 20%, and for more than half of the people it's actually not even an increase over last year's ticket price. As with any event, if you feel the ticket price is too high (either outside your range or not something you want to support) you can choose not to go.
maladroit - I don't think will call will be much different than last year's event (tickets are shipping on the same timetable as they did in 2012). More people were using it than in years past, but the box office team had it covered (at least from the reports I heard from campmates and read here).
HandJamMasterC - I agree with you - to those building/bringing art, vehicles, or theme camps, it's a pretty small part of the bigger picture.
junglesmacks - I don't believe the fees haven't changed for several years. I was expecting them to jump up a bit, given all the financial woes the post office has been going through.

Re: Burning Man 2013 Tickets Info
Good point trilobyte, I paid $420 for tickets last year, and hopefully will get tickets for $380 this year - a decrease of 10%. Thinking about spending my savings on a couple pair of those furry leggings.
The part I don't understand: I need two tickets, one for wifey and one for me. Do I, 1).pre-register and buy two tickets with one credit card or b). both of us pre-register and each by one ticket with our separate credit cards? It's the part that the ticket is in the name of the person on the credit card. Does this matter to me in example 1).? I use my cc to buy both tickets and give a ticket to wifey, do I have to change the name on that ticket? 'Cause if I do I don't think I'm going...it's just too hard.

No. If you buy two tickets it just means the tickets will be officially yours, and can give one to your wife. If they're mailed, they will be addressed to you; if they're held at Will Call, they will be in your name.

If changing names on tickets is "just too hard" for you to go..
..you should most definitely not even be thinking of going in the first place.

Here's the thing: he's been before; he says he paid $420 for tickets last year.
But I see what you're saying.

Too Hard??
Self reliance?? If that is to hard, then perhaps not attending is the easier option for you...

We've seen people say some crazy @#$% on here. That was nothing. But because you've been to the Burn before I thought: "Ooookay, whatever . . . maybe he has some sort of avoidance issues?"

I haven't forgotten the girl who loves 30 minute showers, and was really worried about being parted from them at the Burn. She was totally serious.

Re: Burning Man 2013 Tickets Info
Hayseed - the tickets do not have your names printed on them, once purchased you can give one or both to whomever you like. Where the name on the order would matter is if you have them held at will call. In that case, if it turned out you couldn't go, you'd need to fill out the online order change form. It gets to be a pain in the backside if you have will call tickets and then have to make a change at the last minute, but otherwise it's not too painful. As for the sarcastic/snarky responses you've seen, don't take it personally - see this post for more info. Good luck with whatever you do.

Re: Burning Man 2013 Tickets Info
Anyone who wants to register, can register. You will be given a code to get on and order tickets. The idea is to check the list for known scalpers etc.
My personal thought on this is that there will not be door busting when the ticket window opens, since there are no lower tiers of tickets to stampede for.
In my mind, I see only good scenarios happening with tickets this year. Time will tell, but I see no real bombarding of servers that would cause them to crash.
I hope I am proved correct, but I envision the most civilized, organized, peaceful ticketing situation that we've had in a long time.

Re: Burning Man 2013 Tickets Info
There is no limit to the number of people who may fill out registration. Registering for a sale is not a guarantee that you will be able to purchase a ticket, tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis to those who had registered.

My advice is to watch the clock / calendar and register early.

Re: Burning Man 2013 Tickets Info
So... I'm aware I'm admitting how little I know here. but... How do low income tickets fit in with early arrival? I want to get an art piece placed, so I'd have to get in early to put that up, right?
but I'm also pretty broke, and was hoping for a chance at a low income ticket, can anyone clarify as to how this all fits together? Because right now it just seems that If i want to put up an art piece, i have to pay full price (Not necessarily a bad thing, but eating food is nice too)

Re: Burning Man 2013 Tickets Info
Brian, one has nothing to do with the other. You will need a ticket of some sort (be it low income or full price ticket), and then you will need a totally separate early entry pass to get in before the general admission.
As far as early entry, you will have to request that from the org, or from your camp if it gets these passes. That is a whole different animal.
Good luck with your art project and welcome to eplaya.

The will call box office window is open pre-event. In 2012, it opened at noon on the Wednesday before gates opened (and stayed open 24/7) to accommodate early arrivers who needed to pick up tickets.

Re: Burning Man 2013 Tickets Info
Trilo - Do you know of any kind of policy or safeguard in place against multiple ticket purchases from the same IP address?
On ticket purchase day, I was planning on buying 2 for me under my name but also helping my sister-in-law purchase hers since she has to work that day. I'll be hitting refresh on two different computers that are side by side but running through the same router of course. Would I have any issues with this?
