Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
Hello all! I've been lurking on here for awhile and decided I would be a good burner and introduce myself. I'm Kristen AKA KRoy from Illinois. My first and only burn so far was in 2010. After missing the last 2 years for various reasons I am planning a return in 2013
The anticipation of the release of ticket info has me checking this page, my email, facebook, and the ticketing page several times a day, even though I know the info won't be released until tomorrow. I can't wait to see all your dusty faces in a few short months!

It seems that my mind is possessed by the thought of returning and my art projects this time around (small as they are) seem to be flowing out. More later
Is that your cat?
Let your ideas flow! A thick skin helps.
Yes - this is my cat.
She has some strange compulsion to literally lick the hair off her body wherever it can reach with the tongue. Radical self expression perhaps. If you wanted your cat to look like this, I think it would cost an awful lot of money - so I don't get too excited about it. I thought she was over it last year and the hair grew back over the summer/fall, but I am beginning to see this pattern baldness repeat itself again this year.
Thick skin - yes I have. A cast iron butt helps too.
The next morning you will wake up pretty much your old self except that a very unusual 16 hours will have been added to your store of life experience.

Welcome KRoy. Missing a couple of years will make it all the sweeter. Ticket info tomorrow. I'm excited!

At least the vets don't have the advantage of knowing how to work the ticket thing from years of trial and error. It's new to all of us this year.

Close enough to play tourist but far enough from all the whacky drivers. Anywho.....Burning Man 2013 will be my first experience - yes, that makes me a virgin, and I hope to meet lots of friendly folks. However, if you see me wandering around with my mouth open and my eyes bugged out - you'll know I'm in total awe and probably unconscious or in shock - please just shake me and tell me it's all real! I can't believe I've waited this long to do something like this; I'm 62 and am just beginning to experience a life I've always dreamed of - I'm sooooo happy to include Burning Man!

My name is tati, this is my first year going after wanting to go since i was knee high to a grass hopper. It'll be the boyfriend (who's been twice before) and i. so far we're campless and not too sure about how we'll get there from Seattle, but we'll figure it out!
Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
Hey Tati. A rented Cargo Van (2-seater) is perfect for two people. A friend and I got one from En.terprise in 2009 and it was a very positive experience. We rented it early, so we saved a bundle. They didn't ask where we were taking it, so we didn't volunteer the information.
Lashed the bikes to the inside walls, didn't sleep in it (though a romantic couple may not mind the close quarters), kept the doors closed and washed it out with a pressure washer at the end. Got the deposit back. Your mileage may vary . . .

Newbie to the Burning Man, I have been lurking for years. Nearly made it for the Phoenix year. Trying again this year.
I have confidence that, when the time is right, we will be able to make it.
We are veteran campers, but have heard that the Playa has specal challenges.
Looking forward to the experience...

Hello one and all- you lovely delicious people. Oakland based burner here, love the community- joined eplaya to expand the knowledge base. Been volunteering around the bay for special events since going in 2011 (newb, please reply with hate below
, and once ticket sales were announced for this year I got an itch that I find hard to scratch. More of a lurk than contributor, but have been going on forums for 10+ years, the first being Denonate.net and with their Matrix bastardization (If I fart in the Matrix, do I smell it in real life?). I mostly contribute to the experience through my person, as I am not a visual artist but am willing to lend a hand and/or ear and/or other body parts whenever I see a need. <3

My name's Sarah, I don't remember exactly how I heard about BM, but I've been wanting to go for a long time now. My sister and I are planning to make the trip out for the first time this year!

LMarie- Bringing a smile my helping hand/artistic soul
Hi my name is LMarie some call me Smiles. I have been really studying up a lot on Burning man this year. It's always been a dream of mine to come and experience The Black Rock city. I am super excited to meet new people and experience a whole new world of art. I'm in search of a life changing energy evoking experience with inspiration for my own art in a different element of design. I wanted to say HI and am in deep hopes I find my way to the city this year as I have already started prepping! I'm open to any advice but this is more of a personal spiritual and energy journey for my self. I'm ready to help where I'm needed and would love to paint live for may of you! My medium is paint, I understand in the windy dry conditions may pose a new challenge for me with my art but I want to create in a new/ challenging environment. I have never been to burning man but have always wanted to venture out. I feel like this is the year for change and stepping out on the edge... REDY SET.. JUMP!

Welcome LMarie. Yes do come and bring plenty of paint. If you find time to paint it will definately be 'different' than you are used to. If you're too busy enjoying yourself no harm done. Plan all you want and then wing it. Welcome....

Hey LMarie! Welcome.
There's tons of advice here for you; have fun digging.
Do you have the most fun painting portraits, landscapes, still life, abstract, directly on bodies or fabric, or . . . ?

Thanks for the advice! We might just do that. We have to drive down from Washington so it really depends on the price per mile/how far i can get my car before switching to rental. I like this idea though!Savannah wrote:Hey Tati. A rented Cargo Van (2-seater) is perfect for two people. A friend and I got one from En.terprise in 2009 and it was a very positive experience. Hello! I'm n0remac and this is going to be my first burning man. I have been doing a lot of research and am getting very excited. Some friends and I are all coming together. I have an idea to build a musical house as an attraction. It would be a building that is basically made out of musical instruments. Marimba keys, tuned wires, bells, horns, drums, ext. Everything would be tuned to a pentatonic scale so it would be easy for community jam sessions.
