it's about 2 hours each way. probably less, but I'd want to allow time.
maybe even catch GH if he's off work.
we'd need to see how many drivers/cars and how many riders, though.
Any thoughts?

I just remembered: Goathead is dangerous.
And Ygmir is dangerous.
Goathead + Ygmir together in Gerlach might be
Actually I have never seen Yggy & GH in the same place...

goathead is so not dangerous, he is lovely and cuddly and really nice. the only person i think yggi is dangerous to is himself. (under normal circumstances)
also i forbid y'all to have this great party AD go to the playa that is just not fair to the rest of us. (well me)

Can we do both?

I think most of us are looking forward to a fun relaxing Sunday brunch, but a trip to the playa with the Mighty Viking Ygmir to guide the way

Would we be able to catch the sunset and a starry night on or near the playa if we left Reno after seeing the bus off??! I'm ready to enter that zone...
I have gas money to chip in (my driving is lousy!) and my hand got slammed in a car door over the f*&#ing Holidays

Re: Amtrak Party in Reno!
Ya better double check on that corking fee, there is a LAW in Nevada, and I have never heard of anywhere here in Reno that doesn't charge SOMETHING.
There is no fixed amount they HAVE to charge but they are required to charge something.
(and as tiny as that backroom is at the Carvings buffet, it will be quite difficult to sneak it by, unless Sarif is your server, that is)

seems our weak link is going to be vehicles.
I'll have one there, but, not sure who else might?

Re: Amtrak Party in Reno!
Just called Harrahs directly and asked in general, not under out name, and corkage is only $5 a bottle. If we have to pay it, everyone can pick up one btl corkage so wont be bad. Will be cheaper than ordering btls there. Trying to get decent bubbly and not the cheap $2.99 crap. Still gathering it all up. I will have it in a brown case shipper on a roller so may be discreet

Re: Amtrak Party in Reno!
You crazy Burn'niers!!!
You would have to get up/or not sleep the next day to go to Gerlach~ in time to get back for a 3:10pm Bus.
If the weather is bad snowy pass, then we,( Titwi and Piney) will be around to receive everyone off the Train/and/or/at Sands...if its good weather, we have to run down super early mornin(Sat) to Chico(funny going to where your most coming from) for a 90 bday party, then drive back to Reno meeting up with you guys a lil' late( Ill take catch up shots!)

Re: Amtrak Party in Reno!
I'd think we could get out there and back ok, but it may take some time decisions:
it's about 2 hours each way, figure 2 hours for goofing around, weather delay, whatever.
so, 6 hours, I'd think would be smart to allow.
So, if we wanted to go to the 11:30 brunch, we'd prolly not get out of town until 1, so "bus back to Roseville" folks would miss that.
Or, leave about 9 am, and get back " just in time" for the bus folks.
A third option is to try to make the brunch earlier, but that probably won't help anyone going back by bus.
Who here is doing the train/bus thing?
I know several of us aren't, so other than dealing with brunch and or getting back after dark, it's not a biggie.

As a large group, I vote we stick with the Harrah's buffet. FJ.... as Paul said of his uncle, you're a real mixer.
