"Directed Sales" Ticket Evolution
For those involved in this sale last year and having recieved an email concerning the same this year you have to be struck by the rapid evolution in one year. From an actual phone call basically asking you how many tickets you needed,to a new, perhaps more exclusive, first come first serve sale of the 10,000 tickets put aside as "Directed Sales".Be interesting in how many camps, projects etc received such an invitation and how many "ticket options"will be registered.I am guessing quite a few more than last year will attempt to take advantage of this offer. We have no complaints and hope all goes smoothly with this system and the goals are met.
Unfortunately already an ominous sign for us and maybe others.Perhaps not surprising considering the notorious history of Project ticket sales and new tech, after registering my" Burner Profile" I was meant to get a link to list my core campers but no such link appeared,We have about 72 hours to get this list in,have our campers register and get their own link and get into the sale. The clock is surely ticking on this one.We have notified those in charge are hopeful this problem is corrected soon.

There was a glitch with the link, but all should be sparkly now. Double check.

Re: "Directed Sales" Ticket Evolution
Of corse we spoke to soon on hoping the difficulties were over. The rego form gives us only one line(or one camper). The "add row"function does not work.We went ahead and signed up one member just to see if another line would then come up.Just the opposite.A pop up messsage came up telling me that I must register at least two campers.Impossible of course with only one line.Hopefully this glitch too will be solved.

Re: "Directed Sales" Ticket Evolution
Is there going to be a way of limiting the amount of tickets to each camp? Or will they count on the camp leaders not to try to register everyone as 'key members'. Or maybe the invites only went out to camps that played well last year.

Try accessing the site using a different browser. It may be that the code they used doesn't play well with every browser and or version of browser.
I often find that if something doesn't work as expected with Chrome, it will work with IE or Safari, for example.

Thanks.Yes we tried that and it did work.We always appreciate eplayans and their contributions. Now if we can just get our campers to respond with their real names we can proceed.I swear I don't know any of them.

I still can't get in! My profile is filled out but nothing under Sparkly Things. I got the email "ready..go!" saying to try. I've tried Safari, Chrome and Firefox browsers. I've logged in and out a number of times... Help!
Re: "Directed Sales" Ticket Evolution
You have to have java installed and running for the 'add line' function to work. That would be the java that was recently thoroughly hacked, so that the feds issued notice recommending that it be either disabled or uninstalled.

I just tried my old Windows laptop (since I thought I read somewhere that Apple has remotely disabled Java) and that gave me the same problem. Attached is what I see (profile left off on purpose):
Any ideas on how to get past this?

Re: "Directed Sales" Ticket Evolution
Ok well for anybody else with the same problem: I got around it by simply making a new profile with a different email address and that seemed to work; able to add folks as invitees. No idea what the problem was with the first profile... Just hope I'm not penalized for double profiling with the same physical address and info.

Is there a contact email address for this process? Just write in and tell them what happened. As long as the camp name and your name is the same, and you're only in there once, it should be okay. But you'll probably feel relief if you make a record of it.

(Maybe it was the profile itself; maybe there was downtime for whatever reason, and it's just a mad coincidence.)

I might also suggest for people experiencing that problem to try and login with your original information, but use an "in private" browsing session. That will make sure you don't have any bad cached information or cookies that could interfere with the functionality.

Please contact ticketing support either via the links in my signature or the address in the email that was sent.
As far as being more exclusive than last year, the jury's still out. It's the same size ticket pool as last year, but a camp or project having been invited to participate is not a guarantee of a ticket. If people keep the invitations to their core members, there should be plenty and most will get what they need. Hopefully since those invited have a history of participation and are likely to have a vested interest in remaining in good standing for future years' events, everything should work out.

I think I hijacked my own thread with the technical issues but above is the core discussion I hoped to get some insight about.
I would expect invitees would probably not ask for too many more than last year.We are asking for less as a few have committment isues at this time and there seems to be far less panic on tickets this year although that could chane.New invitees who maybe took the place of some non-invitees then would be the only additional demand.I wonder how many camps/projects were new in 2012 and got an invite this year.
More importantly to us this new system seems to set a precedent for directed sales to theme camps far into the future. We are happy about that as it lets us plan for new things without a great worry whether or not we can get our campers in to do them.
Also interesting I thought was the fact they made these ticket sale happen before any registration for theme camps.I realize there is
a disclaimer that no placement is guarranteed but surprising if you were not.
Finally ticket support was active and concerned about my problems.Of course, thanks to eplaya I got the fixed before they got back to me.

To be safe, if you had to create a second profile - I would send an email to let the Org (ticket distribution group?) know that you had to create a second profile - with the info from both profiles and a clear indication as to which profile worked... (Like Savannah said + my $0.001)
It would suck to assume all is good and later find out that is not the case...
YMMV

And I'm guessing that the llc finding out that you have two profiles might make things sticky for you with them...

Re: "Directed Sales" Ticket Evolution
zorro sings - true, placement is not guaranteed, but in this case these are camps and projects which have already demonstrated that they can meet the minimum requirements for a successful application (they've done it at least once before).
And yes, what stretch80 said - if for any reason you've got more than one profile in the system, contact ticketing support. It would suck to think you've got everything all worked out, only to have the process get hung up over duplicates and you miss something important (like tickets going on sale).

Does creating your profile automatically pre-register you? If not, where do you pre-register after creating a profile and inviting camp members?

Re: "Directed Sales" Ticket Evolution
I had to create a new profile to make my email address match the one my original invitation was sent to so i could see the 'invite team' button.
i'd like to delete the old (broken) profile, but i don't see any links/buttons or other instructions on how to do that,
even tho the FAQ mentions that deleting a profile also unregisters you...
any ideas? thanx.

Contact the ORG! Or ignore the good advice you have already been given this and chance not getting tickets... (your choice)

Lampighters were not part of directed tickets sales for 2013. If there were ever a "core" group, Lamplighters would be it. This year we are celebrating 20 years on the playa. Lamplighters are the oldest continuous art installation at Burning Man. Every night we take out 100+ volunteers to light the city. Our village is a destination for those that want to be a part of the workings of Black Rock City. I say BULLSHIT BMorg! I think this descion was based on the expectation that Lamplighters will be able to fill the village roster regardless of directed ticket sales. So, BMorg just gave a big "fuck you" to our core group. Well fuck you too BMorg.

It's true. Neither Lamplighters, nor Airport, Bus Depot, Earth Guardians, Greeters, Placement, Playa Info, Recycle Camp, or the Volunteer Resource Team are included in this group sale. They shouldn't need to be. The benefit of having the group sale for theme camps and mutant vehicles first, is that there should be less competition for tickets later, since it is essentially a private sale. The big goal here is to get these groups (at least partially) taken care of before our other sales. That will mean that the chances of an individual (for VOLUNTEERS, collaborators, friends, etc.) getting a ticket through their normal options (Individual Sale) should also be increased.
Team members who buy tickets should plan on participating in the Individual Sale on Wednesday, February 13th (pre-registration is required via the Burner Profiles Feb. 6-10). This year's ticket plan has been designed to meet the needs of the greatest number of people possible, and we don't anticipate repeating the 2012 DDT process. The Individual Sale, therefore, is the best option for getting a ticket to Burning Man 2013.
Did I mention that these tickets are $10 less than the $390 directed tickets last year?
The first Lamplighter's name is Steve Mobia (http://tinyurl.com/axalcwm). The second Lamplighter's name is Larry Harvey. We will take care of our own. Always have.

Not in the plans, dear.

I'm guessing the same could be said for Artica (Ice dispensers like they have on every hotel floor) or automated coffee and tea makers at Center Camp.
