Ecigarettes and electricity?
Ecigarettes and electricity?
I have been using electronic cigarettes for a few months now, and was wondering if there are places to charge the battery for them?

They didn't come with a car charger? For self reliance purposes, I would recommend buying a small, inexpensive inverter for your car...If you cant find a charger that plugs to the cigarette lighter.

You could either get DC charger as Tom said, you could keep your eyes open for listings for the camp that does solar powered recharging at their camp (if they're coming, that is), or you could look into some kind of power solution for your camp needs (solar, generator, etc). Radical self reliance and all that, you have time to figure something out.

Aren't ecigarettes a stepping stone to quitting real cigarettes?
You probably won't need them by the time the burn comes around.

The food court should have some laptop charging stations you could plug into.

Or, simply buy carton of cigarettes and a few lighters.

Just don't get carried away and use all your tokens at the the charging stations. You want to make sure you have enough tokens to be able to use the porto-potties all week.

Depending on the model, they are a great alternative to real cigarettes! Taste...kinda.. like them. Pull..depending on the brand...like them. AND you exhale steam..so visuals as well. BUT! Kicking cigarettes takes a long fucking time! Especially when you surround yourself with smokers. Even if you do Eciggs for life, at least your not breathing Tar!

The solar charging camp is Snow Koan Solar. They have historically been placed by Nectar Village. You should bring in your own plug in charger for them to plug into their system, they may not have chargers for unusual batteries, or open spots at busy times for common types.

Re: Ecigarettes and electricity?
A cheap solar charger should do the trick, just have a spare battery or two to swap out.
Re: Ecigarettes and electricity?
Anyone in the process of quitting will return from the playa with a new pack a day habit. Saw more smokers during the week than I've seen for the past 7 years.
Re: Ecigarettes and electricity?
Thanks everyone. The battery is 1000 mAh, and it uses the same charging device as a cell phone. It takes about 2 hours to fully charge it so I was wondering if I would have difficulty finding a place to do so at Burning Man.
Oh, and the kind I use doesn't taste anything like a cigarette at all. You can actually get lots of different flavors for it. =D

Really?! I did not know that.
There was no such thing when I quit. From three packs a day Pall Mall reds to none--cold turkey. I've done lots of drugs in my life but nicotine was the only one I ever felt I was actually addicted to. I substituted tooth picks as my quitting strategy.

Re: Ecigarettes and electricity?
I have an E-Cig too and mine will charge from a USB port so I just have a little thing that goes in the lighter socket in a vehicle and has a USB port on it. It puts out 5 volts at 500mA on that port. You should be fine for the week with one of those.

I saw a candle-powered Peltier junction attached to an LED. Since candles produce mostly heat, even the inefficient Peltier/LED combination was giving off more light than the candle powering it. Am still pretty sure this is in the realm of gimmicks that won't work well in practice.

That thing sounds awesome.
I have a portable charger from Zagg, gave one to a friend for Xmas last year... They're super handy for trips and being away from an electric outlet. Lots of companies are selling them these days. It's pretty easy to buy one and be 'self-reliant' as Rice mentioned.

I did like TT120 does. A cigarette lighter plug-in USB power gizzie.
The concept cracks me up, using something made for lighting tobacco cigarettes to charge electronic ones.
I used my vapor-stick continuously at the burn. Had three batteries: one in use, one in my pocket, and one on the charger.
Benefits include the absence of cigarette butts and being able to use it while loading and wiring pyro and fireworks.
Also knowing exactly what ingredients are used to make the e-liquid!

HAAAAA HA HAA OH HEEEHEHE HHEH. That has got to be THE place. I think a peltier junction with a pot of continuously hot coffee on one side, and a cold PBR on the other would be the alternative power generator of choice at Burning Man. Then you'd have no sooty black kettles and frying pans to deal with.
